I am sorry to read negative reviews of the Pittsfield Library. I have always found staff to be helpful, upbeat and personable. The library has a great selection, comfortable spots to relax with a book or magazine and plenty of computers to access. The online reservation program is simple to use. I do agree that there should be a way to check out books in person. Keep up the great service. An excellent public library like ours is essential to our community. read more

Wow, I felt bad to see so many negative reviews about this wonderful library. This is a fantastic community resource. They have computers, they have a library of many other things such as musical instruments, games, sports gear, etc. People are all helpful, they will get a book from another library if they don't have it in this library, they have free passes for museums, they have a printer and coffee machine, they are open most evenings. This is about the 'Friends of the...." book sale. As someone local who contributes thousands of dollars of books it galls me to see dealers swoop down on these sales and rape the collection. If the library is serious about the sale they would hire some college kids for the summer to list everything on Amazon at 10X the price and cut out the dealers. To get into the sale early as a 'friend' you queue up to get a number. With 25 people standing there the volunteer waited a half hour until the second hand came around to the (unposted) time. read more

I gave 2 star because this is really a nice library BUT the people work here are really not nice. Especially the old lady who's working in Children Room. I know there're a lot of homeless people hinging around in the library but they don't have to be b**chy to everybody read more

I think it is unfortunate that there are no museum passes available for people to stop in and pick up without reserving. It makes it difficult for people who do not know the policy or do not have access to a computer. There should be at least one of each pass available for a first come first served basis. read more

The Berkshire Library is hotspot for homeless activity. Their tech guy named Alex is rude and condescending, he as no knowledge of the wireless infrastructure in the building. However, he is the local tech guy, which is shocking. A pack of monkeys could run the network better him. On the other side, they have a great selection of books, and their Local History Department is top notch when you need help with Genealogy. read more
