We absolutely LOVE this place. It is truly a destination for locals and tourists alike. The food is exceptional, and the staff are friendly, professional and highly experienced.
Do not leave until you've sampled all of the Bendooley Estate wines. The Mourvedere is a personal favourite.
The atmosphere is wonderful, with a custom-built medieval fireplace, stunning pitched barn roof with exposed beams, surrounded by an excellent selection of books (new and used - the book buyer has an exceptional eye!). The dining area is stylishly relaxed, rustic, with salvaged custom furniture pieces and farmhouse ornaments, and the venue is also pet-friendly (outside only) meaning our dog can enjoy the day trip with us.
The new cellar door is absolutely gorgeous and looks as though it has been relocated from somewhere in the south of France.
The grounds are simply stunning, with vistas of rolling rural hills, horse paddocks, rustic animal shelters and sheds, matured European trees and gardens, lush green grass, and a picturesque lake.
The Bookbarn Cottage is a must to stay at. This lovely little cottage is very clean, tidy, stylish and feels like home. Like the bookshop and restaurant, it is filled with a wonderful collection of books, which can be picked up and read over the duration of your stay, or if you must, purchase your favoured books before you check out. The cottage has two very comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms. It has a fully secured yard and allows well behaved pets. We love staying here, including our pooch.
This gem will stay with you. You'll want to return over and over again. read more
