My knödel dumplings were heavy, sure, but thoroughly seasoned and with a slightly crisped texture. I ate only a third of it before becoming full. My traveling partner ordered spaghetti with a 3-meat bolognese sauce - deer, pork, and one other that slips my memory. The pasta was al dente - hooray! But I'm not sure why they decided it needed cranberries as a topping. As you can see, the portions are enormous. We ordered two salads and both were well-to-heavily dressed. Nothing was outright bad, but Fischerwirt would not be my first choice if I were making recommendations to my personal friends.

The staff is pretty friendly and the menu is long, more than enough to choose from. The food was ok, unfortunatelly not quite as good as one would expect considering a couple of slightly sofisticated dishes in the menu. I ordered a bouillabaisse which turned out to be a simple fish soupe missing all the right herbs and spices not to mention the saffron. It tasted just ok. The Greek salad that followed had a couple of thin tomato slices, some green leafs, the cheepest black olives and cheese. It had not much in common with roughly cut pieces of fresh market vegetables that belong into a Greek salad. The cheese though was extremely tasty: fresh, soft and not too salted. I basically love any kind of olives but those had to stay on the plate unfortunately as they had a really strange taste. At this point I already knew that I probably shouldn't order anything else but vanila ice with caramelised pumpkin seeds, pumpkin seed oil and whipped cream sounded so good to me! Well, fade, fade, fade There is a saying in German gewollt aber nicht gekonnt meaning wanted but could not which describes the food here. There is a will, there is an ambition but the bottom is not hit rocked. Still nice to drop in for a drink.

(In english 5 Seeland is 5 Lake District just in case you didn't know) The staff is very friendly, the food is amazing and fresh, they serve Andechs beer, and they speak good English. What else could you ask for??? Hahaha (I spoke in german to them as much as I could and they actually understood me). I've only been living her for about 6 months so yes; I'm proud of my german language skillz. As long as you try a little german the locals will love you for it even if they don't necessarily show it sometimes, if you know what I mean. ;). Anyways, as I was saying the food is just great as well as the ambiance of the place. My 5 year old son had the Käsespatzen (small noodles with cheese and roasted onions... Yummy) he just loves that stuff. My wife and I had the Ziegenkäse salad (goat cheese with salad on the side). Don't be fooled. This is more than just you typical cheese and salad type of a meal. It is specifically prepared Bavarian style where the cheese is baked in a wooden oven giving it a warm and soft taste making your taste buds go wild. Hope this helps someone make a decision on this authentic little Bavarian guest house.
