My poor unsuspecting stepdaughter had no idea what she was in for, but the fun began taking the one-person sesselbahn up the mountain. Dangling under a cable with nothing more than a thin metal railing to keep her from plummeting down the mountain was a bit of a culture shock, I'm afraid. If only she understood German she would have known that Sommer rodelbahn, rodelbahn and alpine coaster all mean the same thing. A fun-as-hell, fast ride down a mountain! The rodelbahn, or (dry) toboggan run, is essentially a little cart on wheels, seated in a low metal half pipe with a stick to operate it. Push the stick forward and you go faster, pull it towards you and it slows you down. My Mr and I are big kids at heart (and assholes..) so we whipped down the run with as little braking as possible. Be careful though, you'll quickly reach high speeds and it is possible to fly out.. especially around tight corners. Stepdaughter took the cautious approach, but she ended up loving it! This über popular summer past time is fun for kids of all ages, and at around €7 a pop why would you not? Tickets include a lift ticket up to the mittelstation and a rodel down. If you feel like hiking up instead of taking the lift, rodeling is even cheaper.

On-mountain restaurants were just ok - we were expecting more of a lively scene (we went to Andorra a few years ago and loved it - djs at lunch created a fun vibe). Infrastructure (gondala and lift system) is a+ though - no lines even though lots of people here during the holidays. Town is quaint but 4 nights is more than enough.

In Ischgl there is a free parking place next to the slopes. The scenery is amazing and the slopes are very well maintained. The gondolas equipment on the Austrian side is close to brand new. They have the latest technology employed there. For 2020 they are opening a massive spa/ sauna complex. I skied there for 7 days and it was spectacular. You have to go there to see for yourself how amazing it is. Five stars overall for service, location and friendly people.

Once there, you can enjoy watching the mountain goats grazing and begin hiking the Käse-Wanderweg which is a trail system that connects the many dairy farms in the hills of Voralberg. It is truly spectacular and should not be missed.

Think this is the better mountain to go to if you're learning to ski, but still want to get the view. Located just below the big 'Komperdell' mountain-centre, right besides the slope, you can almost ski onto the terrace. On wednesday nights, before the big show at 'Komperdell' they also do a great fondue (oil or bouillon) in the cosines of the indoors-restaurant. When skiing in Serfaus, this is the place to go!

Cars only being allowed through the village on Saturdays. When we drove into the resort the ski instructors and other local representatives were there to greet you, point you in the right direction of your hotel and give you vouchers for free stuff. There are plenty of runs for a 7 day holiday, all quite varied. There are lots of runs through the trees which my children loved. All the hotels are family orientated, although quite expensive for Austrian standards. A great resort.

Now there are some things you need to know Parking - at the ski jump stadium 5€ for the day. Then a 20 min easy walk up the road to the gates. No you cannot drive up there even if handicapped. There are a couple hotels up there with small lots but nothing at all for visitors. A horse drawn cart runs during the day for a few euros and it appears a taxi will take you up but you get a lot of intense looks if you do that. Just walk. I only have one leg and did it just fine Get ticket online and screenshot a closeup of the qr so you can get in the gate easily. No cell there Arrive by 9am at the latest. It does get crowded Bring a cell phone light or flashlight. There are some tunnels that are pitch black. Consider a hat and shoes that can get wet. Lots of side waterfalls that splash and drop on you While it's not officially a one way trail, you will be judged and given the unofficial German cold shoulder if you try to come back down the narrow gorge trail. It's tight. Again i have one leg and a cane and no way was i going to face a long line of judgmental Germans Is it ada accessible? Maybe. Definitely not a full wheelchair and there are parts that are tight width wise. The end has a steady incline in a dark tunnel that would take some pushing. So what do you do at the far end (south end) there are another set of gates. If you go out you have to buy another ticket to get back in so decide before you exit. Face the Germans or do the loop. I'd say the loop is worth it. Just go another 100 yards south and keep left and there is a trail up to the kaisetscmarn-alm. It's a bit of a climb up well taken care of stairs to the top of the canyon. That place is a little restaurant that has great food. Restrooms there too. And you cross a very cool suspension foot bridge that is also suspension stairs. I suggest you pass the kaiser and before you get to the next hotel on the way down turn left and follow the signs to eierbrucke. Essentially you head back to the top of the canyon and get to cross a bridge right over it and look way down on the people in the bottom. Summary. Do it!
