They didn't hesitate to fully work concerns up and offered referrals when warranted. It does us good to remember that not all but I will go gar as to say: most reviews for something like a hospital will be likely posted after tragic or horrible experiences that understandably cause frustration, but from a medical standpoint this place is top-notch and trust me when I say I have seen my fair share of emergency rooms. Well worth the extra drive and in talking with my fiancé thinking about the future as we get older, it might just be worth a move to SB in order to have Cottage as a local emergency option. We have recently transitioned my care here and have been grateful for the opportunity to do so.

Dr. Golan is a young and capable scientist. He has a good sense of humor but is also very professional. He's well educated having graduated UPENN medicine followed by Columbia, while still keeping current on evolving scientific research and data. Zero stars. The sample instructions given to me by Urgent Care staff say 'Fill to the line'. They…read moreneed to be clear the sample will be rejected if it's the tiniest bit over. If the sample is too small it gets rejected and if it's the slightest hair over it's rejected. They've rejected so many samples, and I read the instructions word for word. This is so easily fixable by printing a range on the sample cup. When someone is sick as a dog it's not a great time to screw with them. WE ARE SICK. FIX THIS PROBLEM. I would say that the urgent care nurses, and anyone else handing over the sample kits, should be trained in how picky PDL is, but that's not really the issue. The issue is that, per the literal instructions, the sample size target is nearly impossible to hit. Under the line - go home and play with your stool again tomorrow. Over the line - go home and play with your stool again tomorrow. Repeatedly rejecting samples is life threatening. This is not how anyone wants to spend their last moments. The PDL front counter is merciless.

They provide different options of being seen - scheduled appointments, tele-visits, and in my case, walk-ins. My first impression when walking in was that the clinic was well lit, clean, and allowed spacing during COVID. I was welcomed immediately and saw the doctor quickly also. All in all, I was in there for 30 minutes. My only setback was that they didn't take my insurance, so I'm interested in knowing how much my bill would be. At least now I can enjoy the rest of my vacay.

Kelsey is a fantastic PA who is super in depth, kind and asks great questions. Not the cold, quick intake or pre-doctor interview you usually experience here in SB! The gals up at the front are SO sweet, and do whatever they can to get you in right away (and apologize when they can't). Her calm and professional demeanor is reassuring especially when your little one is sick. I have also called the nursing line to speak to someone immediately regarding my child's symptoms and they are super responsive and professional when guiding you and making recommendations. The 3 stars is due to the staff, specifically the front desk. On multiple occasions I have found the front desk staff to be unorganized and dismissive. I have worked in healthcare for over 10 years in various positions and facilities, I know how hectic and stressful the industry can be. I always try to approach difficult situations with the staff with empathy and compassion but it is difficult with this office when the front desk staff is unprofessional and quick to blame and shame patients/parents without even bothering to understand the situation. A recent example includes miscommunication about my child's visit. It wasn't made clear that I would not be seeing the doctor that day (even though the doctor said they would follow up on symptoms during this particular visit). When I asked if we could see the doctor, the back office staff asked the front desk and the response from one of the receptionists was "I hate when they do that." I hate when I am put in shitty situations due to lack of information and communication, but here we are. While I appreciate the care provided by the physicians and nurses, the front desk's poor service detracts from the overall experience. Improved training and stronger focus on patient interaction would make a huge difference.

So many of the nurses have had 20+ years experience in the NICU. That was comforting. The Neonatologists were great as well. They always took the time to sit and chat and answer as many questions as we had. The doctors were also available by phone if we happened to miss them in the NICU. Unfortunately not all hospitals have the same environment as Cottage's NICU. The new hospital is beautiful and the food .... Holy moly. A hospital with a menu! Awesome.
