I was in so much pain that I also couldn't sit up or walk. So I decided I should go. The moment I pulled up to the entrance, the security guard greeted me with a wheelchair. A lifesaver! I didn't have to wait too long, and the nurses and staff were all so kind. I think Annie was my nurse, and she was incredibly compassionate and loving. They put an IV in me right away and gave me some meds to make me feel a little better. I worked with David Barsky, PA, and he was so thorough, caring, and positive. His positivity brought cheer to the environment. By the mid-afternoon, I was feeling better, at least enough to sit up and shuffle around. I wanted to go home and not be tested. David listened and let me go. Looking back, that was a bad idea, and I should have taken a more thorough route. It's great that I can follow up with my primary care physician after this episode, though. I'm afraid what I have may be chronic, and I might have to go back to the ER again someday soon, but this experience made me comfortable and confident that I will continue to have good experiences in the future if I have to go to the emergency department again. When I got home, I thought I might have to be admitted again because the pain was coming on strong, but I took an anti-nausea pill and the medicine that the doctor recommended, and I was able to stay out of the emergency room. It took about three days of sleep, medicine, and one bite of food, until I could finally eat my first meal and keep it down. I am glad that we have such a good ED here in town. It's experiences like this that make me want to leave my legacy with them in my will one day!

I asked when checking in the return of my Titaniam implant as they are worth money which I could have re-sold if I wished . I paid for it and I wanted it back. I asked 4 people prior to Surgery to relay to my Dr I wanted it back. They sterilize everything just like we do at our Dental office. i was told I would be called back next business day. No one called so I called back. At that point I was told I would have had to fill out paperwork for the return, at no point was that mentioned to me by all 4 people! One checking me in as well. So this does not happen to someone else, ask for the return of any implants as they are worth money and I guarantee they resell the metal just like we do with gold and other metals at our Dental office. Not happy about the way they brushed me off. My Doctor was great his PA was great! and if they relayed the message to him as I asked 4 different people I am sure I would have had it returned. Most important about this whole thing and not just what belonged to me, I strongly believe I was allergic to the metal which about half way in on my recovery my hand started loosing strength and causing problems. I wanted to see if there was a mixture of metals used. i Hope this helps the next person! Insist on getting it returned and fill out any paperwork you need to make it happen. Precious metal is worth money but, also important to know what was put in my body. I will get the companies name and investigate further. I do highly rate Dr Ashner Kupperman a great hand Surgeon in SB at Alta Orthopedics and his PA I will get her full name and post it! Both amazing people! BTW Goleta Valley Hospital has yet to call me back. I have left many messages! I have many concerns about chart notes that do not pertain to me from other admittances last year. Very concerning that a teaching hospital lets others that lack credentials write things in your chart that don't belong to you.

Nearly three months later, I called to check my position on the cancellation list and to confirm my appointment date so I could complete the required electronic forms (which couldn't be done without that date). I was on hold for over 10 minutes before being disconnected, then waited another 5 minutes when I called back. When I finally reached the new patient intake coordinator, I mentioned that it would have been helpful if the appointment date had been included in the email so I wouldn't need to call to confirm. Instead of addressing the issue, she became defensive, explaining how she was the only person in that role/ department. I told her I understood but felt their processes could improve and lessen the frustration. When I asked where I was on the cancellation list, she responded in a condescending manner, telling me they had many patients and that I wasn't their only one. I explained that I was aware of their multiple locations and providers and that I'd be happy to see any provider, of any gender, if it meant being seen sooner. Despite that, she continued to give reasons why it wasn't possible to move my appointment. I did finally drag out of her that I was third on the list in which I said there was hope. I thanked her and ended the call. To my surprise, she called me back in what felt like a passive-aggressive manner, asking why I had hung up on her. I told her I had thanked her and was finished speaking. She was upset that I didn't say good bye but instead said thank you and hung up. She commented on my tone, and I told her I didn't appreciate her manner toward me and that I was matching her energy at this point. The conversation escalated, and admittedly, I did say the f word once out of frustration because she had called back only to continue the conflict rather than help. She then stated she would be speaking with management to revoke my ability to be seen at their practice. I said I understood and would also like to speak with management. About a week later, I received a letter stating I had been removed as a patient and would need to be reassigned elsewhere. After reading reviews on Yelp and other sites, I noticed a pattern of similar experiences. In the end, they probably did me a favor, but the lack of professionalism, empathy, and accountability from their intake staff was incredibly disappointing and reflects poorly on how this medical group treats patients. I don't generally leave reviews but this was unethical and very disappointing.

She is patient during our visits and listens to all concerns and questions and takes the time to talk to you about care in detail. I never feel rushed when I am bringing in my child for a visit. Her calm and professional demeanor is reassuring especially when your little one is sick. I have also called the nursing line to speak to someone immediately regarding my child's symptoms and they are super responsive and professional when guiding you and making recommendations. The 3 stars is due to the staff, specifically the front desk. On multiple occasions I have found the front desk staff to be unorganized and dismissive. I have worked in healthcare for over 10 years in various positions and facilities, I know how hectic and stressful the industry can be. I always try to approach difficult situations with the staff with empathy and compassion but it is difficult with this office when the front desk staff is unprofessional and quick to blame and shame patients/parents without even bothering to understand the situation. A recent example includes miscommunication about my child's visit. It wasn't made clear that I would not be seeing the doctor that day (even though the doctor said they would follow up on symptoms during this particular visit). When I asked if we could see the doctor, the back office staff asked the front desk and the response from one of the receptionists was "I hate when they do that." I hate when I am put in shitty situations due to lack of information and communication, but here we are. While I appreciate the care provided by the physicians and nurses, the front desk's poor service detracts from the overall experience. Improved training and stronger focus on patient interaction would make a huge difference.
