I helped a psychotherapy client of mine move from another place in Hollywood where he was doing terribly. Within a few weeks of living at the Plaza, he came to life, making friends, looking much healthier, taking care of personal hygiene, all of which hadn't been happening for at least a year in the other place. I did not see any parking but I found a street parking spot. Worst case, park at VONS and cross the street. The residents were fun, chatty, grateful, and happy which speaks well to the place. I began a program that screened all the fine documentary films of Amanda Pope who had recently retired after a 30- year career at USC's School of Cinema teaching both directing & documentary film making. Amanda introduced her films & shared fascinating "behind the scenes" info. She also stays to do a Q&A with the audience post screening. I really wanted to give Belmont a 4.5 rating, but there was no option to do so. There is no perfect, but aside from a dining room with poor acoustics, I think it's a great place to find companionship, a stimulating environment and an opportunity to have great fun and continue growing as we age! Before signing off, I must note that the well trained staff gets great credit for taking such good care of us. Many young people are available to help us with technology, the house keepers become good friends, the drivers get us to appointments on time and the engineers are great at fixing things in our apartments. A high tech monitoring system is built in to the building that alerts staff to any potential need for assistance such as falls, so residents do not need to wear devices on lanyards, etc. Facility resembles a high end hotel, bright, cheerful, and beautifully furnished and decorated. Staff is outstanding, helpful, and attentive, and assists residents with FaceTime or Zoom calls to friends and family. The most important characteristic of The Welbrook is its commitment to residents' care and comfort. Each resident has a cute private studio apartment (no individual kitchen facilities, as all ambulatory residents eat in the lovely dining room). This is not a "for profit" facility, and it has only 3 fixed price points that depend upon the amount of physical care a resident requires--no "cafeteria"-style menu of fees for services such as medication management; the fixed fee covers everything. After some terrible SNF experiences and a difficult struggle to locate an acceptable residential care solution for our family member, we tripped upon The Welbrook. It was the answer to our prayers and a huge relief for the family. We are now relaxed in a way we have not experienced in several years!

From the beginning we were very disappointed with the way the place was run. Our parent was bullied by another resident, and the management did not inform us and would not have, luckily we were told by other residents. The management dragged their feet and did very little to remedy the situation. Of course they did not want to ask the bullier to leave and lose that income. Very little attention paid to residents, very little response to family inquiries/complaints. The residence is badly in need of an overhaul. I hate to think what would happen in case of a fire or other emergency in case of evacuation. The so-called "afternoon tea" is leftover cake from the night before. In all the time my parent was there I met and talked to many residents and their families and no one said anything complimentary which makes me think the good reviews posted here are not genuine.
