While I lay in a crumpled mess in a shallow foxhole, trying to work my knee back to full functionality. But it wasn't Black River Paintball's fault, just my old body... For those of you who enjoy paintball, Black River is a local field just south of Raleigh about 45 minutes. They run a decent operation. Check-in is pretty easy, you do the liability form online and get a punch card for access to the field. Watch a safety video (goggles on all the time, as well as your gun condom off the field), grab your gun, face shield and load up on some paintballs. Get your gun chronographed for speed (under 285 fps) and you're ready to go. We played on two of the four fields, one speedball and one more typical wooded. Pretty much elimination without a capture the flag operation. The speedball field is pretty cool, loaded with forts and gun slots, junked cars and other cover. Plenty big for 50 people or so. The wooded course was also decent with a small pond and bridge-fort area, a large space for over 50. And the crowd of course is important, Black River had a lot of kids, some families but everyone was pretty cool and friendly even if they may have been a bit hardcore. But we all played fair which makes a difference. Didn't have too many complaints outside of the fact that they didn't use armbands so there was some randomness in knowing who the enemy was. The equipment was in varied condition but overall in decent shape. And the guns, well they're about as accurate as the person on the trigger. But it was a lot of fun for all even if I may be limping around this morning. And to the dude I cut down with my friendly paintball fire, sorry! But you were facing the wrong way...

Fuquay-Varina Downtown Dog Park is a large park for my puppy child to get rid of excess energy for…read morefree! The park is open daily from 7am to dusk. There are two areas: one for small breeds (under 30 pounds) and one for large breeds (over 30 pounds). Each area has benches and water stations. Please note, any dog with a history of aggressive behavior is prohibited in the park. I wish this could be implemented more strictly but the majority of the dogs we saw at the park were friendly.

First time I came here a girl brought her eight week old puppy into the large dog side when there were some big damn dogs up in here. We tried to politely explain that maybe not the best idea because she hasn't had her shots and she could be hurt. She got super angry and stormed out. Said the puppy had her shots (um, no) and then glared at everyone from the small dog side. Second time some dudes dog comes and pees on my leg, no big deal except that's a training opportunity. He said I "shouldn't have worn such nice stuff to a dog park." I was wearing dirty jeans and three year old boots. I don't care if dogs jump on me, jump on my boots, get me filthy with black mud. That I can just remove. If your dog pisses on my damn shoes that's a different story and while it happens, it's an opportunity for you to say "NO!" And explain to your dog that we don't pee on people. Instead he literally laughed. So yeah, nice enough dog park with clueless people who don't pick up their dog shit. Becky and Brian (owner) are the faces of this establishment that draw in and retain families. The director, Michele (not to be confused as the owner) made our experience as parents a frustrating one, to say the least. My interactions with Michele were non-existent at best, traumatizing at its worst. My child spent over a year there. They were happy, they enjoyed being there and had great experiences with the teachers and assistance in their classroom; teachers acknowledged my child as bright, sweet and with great manners. In the few times where we as parents had to interact with staff, our approach was again, with great manners and respect. Issues arose particularly with having to communicate with Michele. Based on interactions, I would categorize the director's communication skills as tacky and unprofessional; her behavior as poor and without reproach. Most communication was through email and there were a few face-to-face, all informal. In one instance, I requested a meeting to discuss policies as they related to actions taken against us that appeared targeted and outside of any written policy. Michele refused to speak with us openly and informally, stating that she would "not be meeting" with us. The owner (graciously) took the meeting instead and we a productive dialougue. Then a HUGE and serious decision was made regarding my child - with no *formal* meeting to discuss the situation, followed by an outright refusal to provide *valid* supporting documentation. A formal meeting was requested and for a 2nd time, Michele refused, stating that "there is no benefit that can come from a meeting" and canceled the formal meeting that she had previously requested and agreed upon. Our time at Kiddie Academy Fuquay concluded when we were blindsided by a "last day" date, not by our choice. Not considering management, Kiddie Academy Fuquay was a decent place for us and we would have remained until school age, given we could eliminate any direct interactions with Michele, who was given full authority to continue to mismanage and misdirect our patronage. In your decision making process, take note of how management has responsed to negative reviews on Google: gaslighting, deflection, redirecting blame instead of accepting responsibility. If you are considering this location, consider with caution. An establishment is only as great as its leadership.

The teacher was rude. the director was shouting at my 3 year…read moreold son for no reason. they never answer your questions. one day I raised concert about the teacher . same afternoon I got a call from the director saying that your son was running in the classroom. that's why he is in my office . come and pick him up. when my husband entered the office , the director was sitting on the chair and they made my son sit on the the floor. I have watched so many times over the camera that kids push and pull each other. But the teacher is not aware of these situations. Brenda, the owner, is an incredibly warm and friendly person who does some wonderful things at her farm. The day we arrived for our trail ride Brenda greeted us, got us situated with gear and horses. Then she personally adjusted the saddles and stirrups to ensure the best fit. The farm has a number of volunteers who help guide the riders through the trails in the beautiful surrounding countryside. Our two volunteers were incredibly polite and thoughtful as they guided us through the ride. The horses were gentle and responsive. The entire experience was wonderful from start to finish. After we returned to the stables Brenda talked about the impact the horse therapy they do at the farm has had on participants. This has literally changed peoples lives. Outstanding place and people. We will absolutely be returning. Highly recommended.
