On one hand, it has a very…read morefamiliar feel to it - it's your archetypal indie bar with a loud jukebox, average beer and z-shaped scruffy teens slumped in booths waiting to get drunk enough to get off with people. Of course, there's an older crowd who have either graduated to other pubs but go back for nostalgic reasons (or to get off with 18 year olds no doubt). Essentially, Dicey's is the rock haunt. On the other hand, its far more than a scruffy pub. Because, somehow (and I can't work this out at all, schematically), you can walk up some steps and find yourself in a cavernous club that plays all the indie and rock classic, dragging in people from far and wide. The atmosphere is pretty rough and ready, but not really threatening in any way. There's acoustic nights and gigs, which should flick the switches of anyone finding themselves in their with a penchant for music. As it's an indie haunt, fully expect people over the age of 25 to tell you 'it's not as good as it used to be'.

Essentially, what this means is a complete absence of novelty hats and people putting those idiotic shamrock swirls in the stout foam. No, Felix's is as close to the craic as I've got thus far, which means that the stout is very good, the walls are wooden and the pub itself is bustling with people banging the world to rights around the little nooks and crannies. Basically, this is the best pub in the area as it's a proper 'sit down, chat and get slowly drunk' pub, which is what pretty much every decent pub aspires to be.

MK's is one of the best pubs in Strabane. Its very quaint with great service. It has a very…read moremodern look to it compared to other pubs but very easy to chat and kick back in. They also have a Bed & Breakfast in their upstairs with basic rooms and located right in the center of town. If you are looking for a quiet place to stay during your trip to Strabane or a nice pub to have a quiet chat in, then definitely hit up MK"s.
