It felt both scientific and magical at the same time. The industrial glass exhibits were fascinating (glass shapes so much of our everyday life), and the live glassblowing demos were mesmerizing. The kids were completely locked in & now we may need to introduce them to Blown Away. It's incredibly family-friendly. The LEGO building area and magnet play space were perfect hands-on breaks for the kids. And the café? So good. Ramen, Monte Cristo (omg), mousse cake (highly recommend), IPA, and pizza slices for the kids. All fresh and surprisingly elevated for museum dining. Educational, interactive, beautiful, and fun & absolutely worth the drive. Bonus: Kids are free & admission is good for two days! We'll definitely be back.

After that you place your glass in the sand blasting machine. Put your gloves on and spray the glass all around. Take out and wash. It was a fun experience and organized class

Beautiful collection of Native American History is on display at The Rockwell Museum. Also oddly enough they had an entire room dedicated to a gingerbread house competition. The gingerbread houses were absolutely amazing however and you can vote on the one you like best. The Museum is located in the Gaffer District (downtown Corning) which has antique shops and cute stores within a one minute walk. Also a shuttle is available for free from and to the Corning Glass Museum right outside The Rockwell Museum. The gift shop also has really neat items, my gf and I spent prob close to thirty minutes just in the tiny gift shop. Highly recommend you stop in here if you visit the Corning, NY area. So, a weekend would be perfect, i.e. do not expect a whole lot to see. The glass-making session was such a unique experience. You can pick from making a colorful glass ornament to a vibrant glass flower. It's required to pick up your glasswork the next day from the proper cooling and packout processes. The museum part was also quite eye-opening to see what people can make with glass materials. As for restaurants, I personally like the Old World Cafe & Ice Cream and the Cugini Italian Market & Cafe. The Corning Glass Company is in the City of Corning, and still has its HQ here today. They maintain a great museum here that allows visitors to see the glass being made as well as the history of it all and to make a purchase or two if they would like. The museum has glass from as far back as you can imagine, they have done their homework and have a very all encompassing collection. They have a library to complement that collection and on any given day you will see students here using that library. The city has a nice commercial district, mostly made out of brink now since a fire destroyed it in the past. Its a pleasant place to walk in nice weather, and while they can get snow in winter, the rest of the year tends to be lovely here. I often come here with visitors to the WNY area. The museum is always a hit. They share their schools with the City of Painted Post, just next door.

I live no where near Corning, NY but I saw a piece of art that I wanted when browsing the internet…read more I was reluctant to purchase something of this value on line but took the chance since I had my eye on this piece for several months. Ann was a pleasure to work with. She answered all of my questions with great patience and understanding. When I purchased the piece I had confidence that she would follow through and carefully pack my beautiful ceramic sculpture. Little did I know how carefully and thoughtfully she would do this. I was extremely pleased with the way this worked out. What a pleasure to unwrap this, following her directions. I don't think there could have possibly been a better way to pack this very fragile piece. Her care in providing instructions for unpacking the piece (including "TOP -- Do Not Remove") were easy to follow and provided me with a great deal of comfort in that I knew I was doing this correctly. EVERYTHING is PERFECT!! I have no idea if I will ever get to Corning to meet Ann and visit her gallery, but I am so confident in her service that I have purchased an even larger, more expensive piece from her.
