I'm an ICU nurse know sometimes good doctors don't have good bedside manner, but he lied about medication dosing until corrected him and then he tried to back track. read more

If I could rate Dr. Raab a zero, I would. I'm posting this review in hopes people will read and take warning about this guy. Ladies (and gents in some cases), if you are going for any type of cosmetic procedure be prepared to pay high prices for poor results. I had 4 moles removed from my back over 8 months ago. 3 of the 4 are still partly still visible because part of the mole still remains. During the removal it was very clear Dr. Raab was in a hurry to get me done and out of his office because his treatment during the removal was very rough. This rough treatment inaddition to not entirely numbing the areas of removal were very painful! The cost was over $800 out of pocket for his "services". Never again. Horrible... Additionally, I do NOT recommend his services for Botox. The Botox injections were a bit cheeper than where I normally go. Too bad I wasted 500.00 because they didn't work. Went back after waiting two weeks for it to take effect and Dr. Raab wouldn't even listen to me and walked out of the patient room. read more

If I could leave Dr. Raab negative stars I would. I've never felt so uncared for by a doctor in my life. He was in the patient room for what felt like 2 minutes tops. You'd think as a new patient he'd take a minute to smile and ask me about my concerns, but no. He looked at my skin for a total of 2.5 seconds and prescribed me antibiotics before trying to push me out the door. I said I had some questions and was hoping to get some insight into a skincare routine and figure out the root of the problem. He was rude, cut me off every time I tried to get a word in, and wouldn't even answer my questions about the medication he prescribed before swiftly exiting the room. Horrible bedside manner and made me feel stupid for asking normal questions. I think at the very least a doctor needs to give you enough time of day to tell you about the medicine they're prescribing you. I couldn't help but break down and cry when he left. I didn't feel listened to or respected whatsoever. His attitude was "well I'm the doctor here so either do what i say or don't waste my time" yet he didn't take the time to hear about the issues I was seeking help for in the first place. The nurse practitioner was wonderful and brought me tissues and apologized and said I'm not the only person who has felt this way after seeing Dr. Raab. I truly feel he should not be a doctor. He made a whole lot of assumptions about me (and I hadn't even filled out the new patient forms yet so he had zero history to go off of) and had no sense of compassion for a human with a health concern before him. Why be a doctor if you don't care about your patients concerns? I'm not usually one to complain, but I'm so upset. It was a waste of a copay. I made an appointment with a different doctor in the practice because I DO NOT trust Dr. Raab one bit. Don't see this obnoxious person that calls himself a doctor. read more

I will never return to this office. Dr Raab removed a skin tag on my back and when I reminded him before the removal that I am on a blood thinner he brusquely told me that it was just a scratch and wouldn't bleed . When I got up the next morning, my sheets and mattress were covered in blood. The bleeding continues for three days, ruining some clothing. Any other physicians I have had treated this situation carefully. I also asked Dr Raab for a prescription for another condition I have and he replied that there was nothing that would work. I told him that I have been perscribed medications in the past that did help and he just turned and left the room. I have been seeing Dr.Raab for well over a decade, I trust him . I moved 5 years ago to Louisville Kentucky. I tried 2 very poshy practices and was terribly disappointed. I returned to Dr. raab. I now drive 5.5 hours one way several times A year. He is calm, efficient, and completely transparent with you. He'll tell you if you're wasting your money, or if there is another appropriate treatment. He does not cause me pain, while still doing a thorough treatment. I give him 5 * I wouldn't travel over 5hours if he was totally worth it!!! read more

The nurse I had was friendly and comforting, but as soon as the doctor came in, my feelings quickly shifted from positive to negative. I felt rushed and judged. I came in for a consultation for a tattoo removal and the first thing he said when he saw my tattoo was, "Yep, this is why I hate tattoos." It was unprofessional and made me feel embarrassed. He wasn't very helpful or informative, instead he just seemed to push for me booking an appointment with them. I told them I had to get back to them for a good time, but I left the office knowing I wasn't going to be bringing my business there. HIs prices were high and unreasonable for what I was looking for. Especially for a doctor who treated his patients that way. I had scheduled a few consultations through different offices, and his price quote was higher than anywhere else I had found for my particular tattoo. read more

Very high prices, doctor has terrible bedside manner and you are expected to give them your credit card as soon as you get there. They will AUTOMATICALLY BILL YOU immediately when your insurance doesn't pay them the right amount. Then if you turn off that credit card, you will go directly to collections. Stay clear of this office and find one of the many other derma's in the area. This place is a rip off and the doctor is not impressive!!! read more

I have been going to Dr. Raab regularly for ten years. At one point, for 2 years, I had ended up going to a different dermatologist because of a move, but came back to Dr. Raab as soon as I could. He has successfully treated my issues throughout the years where other dermatologists did not. I find him to be a very warm, thoughtful physician. He keeps up with the latest technical advances and I feel well advised and treated by him. His staff is also friendly and professional. I read other reviews about him having a terrible bedside manner. This simply is not the case. His location is convenient as well and the wait is always very short; no more than the length of time to read a page or two in a book! read more

In less than 10 seconds, Dr. Raab was able to diagnose my problem confidently and with ease. I have been treated by Dr. Benjamin J. Raab for 3 years now (my family for even longer than that) and I can say, with confidence, that he is and always will be my family's number one choice in skin care. The good Dr. had already removed 2 cysts from the back of my head (each removed a year apart) before I had seen him 2 weeks ago regarding a dry skin issue I was having around my eyelids. The skin around my eyelids was incredibly swollen (red) to which I had figured to simply be just a dry skin issue thanks to a pharmacist I had seen at a local Walgreen's about a year and half ago. Well, after going through over a year and half of using the brand of moisturizer the Walgreen's pharmacist had recommended, I was still seeing no results and my eyes were only getting worse and more annoying to live with. Especially during the winter time. So, instead of making the same mistake twice by going back to the local Walgreen's, I decided that it was time to see Dr. Raab and I'm so glad that I did. After dealing with this condition for almost 2 years, I was completely caught off guard when the Dr. told me that he would have my eyes cleared up & back to normal within the week, and he was right. I was amazed by the Dr.'s performance in treating me and now I can go back to my day-to-day routines without irritation and constantly having to worry about how my eyes look. I couldn't recommend this doctor enough. His credentials speak for themselves, I highly recommend Dr. Raab as your dermatologist of choice. Dr. Raab can be quite rude. He frequently interrupts when you are talking and has a superiority complex. He did help me for a while, but after trying about 3 medications, he decided to turn to Accutane. There are so many other medications out there and despite me explicitly saying I didn't want Accutane, he kept trying to push it on me. Not the worst dermatologist, but if possible, I would try to find other options before turning to him. read more

Rule No. 1: NEVER YELL AT YOUR PATIENTS. Dr. Raab suggested a cream that he stores with him at his office. I simply told him that I would rather have this medication picked up at my pharmacy because my insurance would pay for it. The minute he heard that, he started yelling that he will not waste his time in prior authorization if the pharmacy requests one. Note to Dr. Raab: Please bear in mind that we pay thousands of dollars to be insured, specially in cases like this. It is your job to provide prior authorization if you are requested one. I am not going to pay my insurance and you at the same time for a single prescription. I am overall saddened by the way Dr. Raab behaved. This is simply not the way to talk to patients. Such a disappointment. I will never visit him again! read more

A change in insurance and a desire to have a dermatologist who was located close to home led me to Dr. Raab after I was diagnosed with Diabetes that was extremely sensitive to ANY use of steroids. The Endocrinologist who treated me during the week while I was hospitalized tested me with topical, IV and oral steroids and was emphatic that if I wanted to get my sugar under control to come off of the insulin, I would need to find a dermatologist who was experienced and knowledgeable enough to not lazily default to the use of steroids as the only treatment available for my hives, eczema and Lupus rashes. When I went to Dr. Raab's website, watched his video and read his statements on his treatment views, I thought that I had found exactly the doctor I needed. Instead, after two appointments, I discovered that the statement on his site was a complete opposite representation of how the actual doctor thinks and acts! "The 'Finest' Treatment Is What Is Best For You! Each patient is a unique individual with differing needs, conditions, goals, and expectations. The treatment decision with a trusted advisor should be based only on what realistically most benefits the patient's needs. Nothing else should matter. The doctor should offer and have extensive documented experience, skill and training with all proven treatment modalities, picking and choosing with discretion and wisdom, in an appropriate fashion." This is what he stated on the site, but when I met with him on the first visit, he blatantly stated that steroids were what he would suggest and that his hands would be tied if he could not use them. When I said that I understood that it would be difficult but that I truly wanted to explore other treatments, he said okay and suggested that I work with my Rheumatologist to restart my biologic infusions, use OTC creams, a lotion that he sales at his office and a specific skin cleaning routine. I did not buy the lotion because the OTC creams were expensive and I could not afford both. I did restart my infusions, use the OTC cream, follow his cleaning routine and saw some improvement, but my rashes never completely went away. Then I had surgery on my hand, a fall that sprained my other hand and started receiving allergy shots. My immune and nervous systems were triggered strongly and the rashes got worse, spreading all around my neck and scalp causing my hair to start falling out, and small spots on my thighs and on the sides of my feet. My allergist suggested steroid ointments but said to see Dr. Raab again for alternative options. So, I found myself back in his office 5 months later seeking his professional assistance with my unique, complex, "differing needs, conditions, goals, and expectations." He was rude, arrogant, dismissive and insulting to both me personally and my team of doctors, as well as to my previous dermatologists. He stood at least three inches away, looked at my skin and declared that I needed steroids and when I mentioned that my hair was falling out and that I had to cut it, he just looked at me and said that I still had hair! He has never looked at my scalp, looked at my skin under a light and/or microscope, nor has he performed a biopsy of my lesions, but all of my past doctors have at least performed those examinations. When I reminded him that I could not use the steroids because my doctor had tested me in the hospital and determined that I was extremely sensitive to them, he told me that he had not found in his experience that the creams would make that much difference in a patient's sugar levels and that if they did, I could just stop using them. When I brought up that my other doctors had treated me successfully using non-steroid medication and mentioned one by name, he told me that he absolutely would not prescribe me that medication. When I said that even online there were articles that mentioned ways to treat my conditions without steroids, he said that anything could be found online but that he was a professional and I was an amateur so in his opinion an amateur does not come to the doctor to tell him what to do. I told him that he was an expert in his area, but I was the expert in my body and all of my conditions so I wanted to work with him to use a non-steroid treatment. He said that when you have a fire, you don't tell the fireman what to do, you move out of the way and let the fireman put out the fire, so who was I to tell him that there was another way to treat my rashes. I told him wow, he was arrogant. He said professional. I said professionally arrogant. Then he asked me if I was going to take the steroids or not. I told him to go ahead and write the prescriptions, but that I couldn't believe that he was not listening to me say to him that I wanted to try something else so I would just have to find someone else. He said he was not going to treat me period because some people just don't mesh and walked out. No Empathy! No interest in MY needs. Exercised cold dehumanization. read more

This man is not only rude, and treats you as an annoying customer, he also prescribed me a medicine that was an antibiotic without any sort of tapering method/variation of dosage and it gave me autoimmune hepatitis. My liver was double its size and I was hospitalized for 7 days- not to mention that I'm only 17. Such diseases generally affect people much older than I am. Thankfully, by God's grace, I am much healthier now. Don't let yourself go through what I went through. read more

This man makes you feel like you are an annoyance rather than a patient. My concerns were not addressed with anything but a rushed exam and an ignorant attitude. Actually, he never offered any answers until I asked what he thought the problem was. Just looked down at my paperwork with a stupid expression and a shrug that told me he couldn't care less about what he was doing. All that after waiting in the exam room for 45 minutes! No apology for the long wait either. Not to mention I was the only patient there. Now I understand why. Get on some meds and do your job! read more

I had a biopsy done on a spot on my leg in which 2 stitches were needed.... so I had to return for a follow-up. When I went for my follow-up I was asked "what brings you in today?" Did you not look at the chart. In addition, I was charged a second co-pay which should not be charged for a follow-up. When I inquired as to why I was charged, I was told that because I received my results of the biopsy it was considered an office visit and was charged. Dr Raab isn't very friendly either. Will NOT being going back and do not recommend his office!!! read more

I have been treated by Dr. Raab for twenty years. I find him to be a warm and caring physician. He has superb technical skills. I am always able to get an appointment with ease at either of his two locations, both of which are convenient for me. I never have to wait more than fifteen minutes. I have also run a hospital and a heart institute, and I know quality medical care when I see it. His care is of the highest quality. read more

We LOVE Dr. Raab! We have been seeing him for at least 5 years. My dad, my son, and I all have eczema. Dr. Raab is always very courteous and caring and he is a great guy. He has helped us immensely in controlling this chronic condition. We can always get in to see him. This, by comparison, with my optometrist who has a 3 month waiting list just to get an eye exam. My wife and daughter have also seen him when they had the misfortune of picking up some warts at the beach and had to have them removed. We don't like having to see him, but we love seeing him. I have been using Dr. Raab for a few years. Today 5/27/16 the receptionist Messina (I may have misspelled her name) answered the phone rudely and asked me "Why am I asking so many questions she's busy?" Wow! She then insulted me twice by saying " What's wrong with you don't you understand?" If I didn't understand she definitely was not in the mood to explain any of my questions. Readers it was not a level of my comprehension but her yelling saying she's busy and she doesn't have time to answer questions "call back." I only asked two questions. Can she refill my child's medicine and let's make a new appointment? Absolutely, unacceptable! read more
