    Gus delivered some of the best customer service I've seen. It's frankly how it is supposed to be. It is a lost art. He should teach a class.

Specifically Mark and the Antwanytte. For short-sighted EZ adjustment of $500, they will lose $5000/month (not a typo). Got ordered PT from my physician and wasn't excited (had never been to PT before, but obviously others find it useful) so I asked about price. I was quoted $40 and ONLY $40. Sounds low, but they checked with Anthem insurance to make sure. And I just kept asking. Everyone said Insurance covers everything else. Just $40 for me. I called the Hospital's Billing Estimators and confirmed: $40 is all I would ever have to pay. They called my insurance. Repeatedly. More confirmation. They put my info into the Anthem Portal and out came, you guessed it, $40. I bet if I asked or called today they would give the same ridiculous erroneous information with a straight face. The service, as I'd feared, was charged at hundreds more than I was told repeatedly. Either their estimators asked Anthem Insurance the WRONG questions or Anthem gave the WRONG answers. Either way, as you can see from the pics, I was charged an order of magnitude more than I was assured I would be charged. I'm obviously the only one who did nothing wrong yet these two parties can't settle on how to get accurate info to an incoming patient. Or compromise on a reasonable $ settlement. The patient is the only one who suffers and they DO NOT care. The parade of customer service people I worked with pointed fingers at each other while it was suggested I submitted an appeal to Anthem Insurance which (duh) was rejected. This was Mark's idea. With the photos I sent him he thought this was a slam dunk. Two weeks or less. After a month I recalled customer service and they said my appeal (or adjustment or adjustment appeal - why have their own silly language) was rejected and maybe someday someone was going to tell me. I could try again with some super secret double probation version of a next level appeal of an appeal or super-appeal or some other such nonsense. I have a better idea and am just going to leave Anthem, costing them roughly $50,000 per year. Antwanytte even wrote a template letter to me explaining how insurance works and Never once mentioning the actual circumstances of this issue or the obvious proof of evidence from the Hospital's estimation crew and their phone call notes from checking with Anthems portal. Regina (yet another customer service person, though - eventually- not as incompetent as the others) thinks Mark never submitted them. That would explain the utter lameness of Antwanytte's response (which I suppose I'll receive some time in the next month. Luckily, it's Open enrollment and we are so disgusted that we are going to leave our individual plan where costs have now risen over 20 years to $50,000 a year. VERY VERY Short-sighted for a giant corporation where profits matter. Keep my $500 for now and you get NOTHING from now on, except maybe bad returns for stockholders and bad karma.

I am disappointed to discover that Blue Shield of CA cuts corners with a Magellan "carve out" for most plans in order to make more money. Idk what a carve out is, but I learned about it since getting on this health plan for this month. I chose Blue Shield of CA for my family when our Optum coverage was prematurely terminated due to an accidentally missed payment. It looked like my mental health providers took Blue Shield of CA, but come November 1, some nice customer service reps explained to me about the Magellan Carveout. This is a hardship as I am mentally at one of the most vulnerable times in my life, having Post Partum Preeclampsia and emerging Post Partum Depression, so it is hard to have to scramble to find new in network mental health care. Giving 3 stars because the customer service agents are kind and helpful, and the physical medical care side has been excellent, which was very helpful when I went through delivery and my daughter had an unexpected stay in the NICU the day she was born. This is a fine health plan for families with zero mental health care needs.

Yes, my name is short for Sherman Oaks - that's very intelligent of the Halpern's to figure out - but it doesn't make my profile or comments fake. Yet again, they offer lies. My case dates back to 2011 or 2012. Larry knows very well what happened back then when he incorrectly told us that our new insurance would kick in by a certain date - then when contacted the following month by me to inquire why the paperwork from the insurance company said our coverage wouldn't begin until the following month - Larry blamed the change on all the new rules of Obama Care. Needless to say, my wife suffered an injury within minutes of the new coverage take effect, she wasn't admitted into a hospital until after the coverage began, but because she was in an ambulance minutes before midnight, the new insurance company said that the claim was based on an accident from prior coverage and wouldn't cover anything. Larry refused to fight for us with the insurance company, which we quickly dropped and I was forced to deal individually with each medical provider to cut our extremely high bills down. Years later in talking to a friend who is an attorney, I was told that Larry very easily could have fought the insurance company to cover everything except the ambulance bill since that occurred prior to their coverage. Instead, Larry wanted nothing to do with this and dismissed us like we were used garbage. So - again, many years after the original incident and subsequent reviews, I stand by my story and his negligence as a customer friendly insurance broker. He is more than happy to take your money though.
