    Soccer Field - artificial turf
    Rebecca F.

Nice little park. Came here to watch my neighbor play soccer. The field is artificial turf with only two playing greens from what I saw. They have soccer turf, baseball field, walking/jogging path, pond with bridges that cross over, bathroom pavillon with water station, and ample parking. Ducks & geese were in the pond & I'm plenty of other wildlife. This park is located in a neat little area of Alexandria and there is an outdoor shopping development across the street with restaurants in it as well.

This park is a fun place for children for these reasons: 1) There are several bridges, one leading to a little island in the pond where geese rest. 2) The pond itself has turtles, geese, and fish for kids to look at. 3) There are free public restrooms. 4) There's plenty of parking. It's a fun park for the entire family!

Wide open space. Lots of sun, lakes, dams and wild birds. There are bridges to walk across, hills to sit on and ducks. In the center is a giant water fountain. Cars park free. Review: 4

The dog park here is pretty nice. It's a large open space with seating and benches in the middle for the humans to congregate. There are water bowls throughout (BYO water though) and some communal toys. It is partially mulched too which helps with the mud. My dog had a grand old time romping around and there were lots of friendly dogs and people.

Stay away from this family. Their dog attacked my dog very aggressively while inside the dog park

My boyfriend and I have been taking our puppy to this dog park for 6 months, since we got her. We have never had any problems and we always felt very safe. Today, i took her by myself and my puppy was attacked by a violent, aggressive dog. It was the scariest thing. She is just a little thing and he ran at her and jumped at her the second he got through the door. It took me 5 minutes to pull him off of her - obviously the other owner was in no hurry to help. Which was shocking because he was there with his infant child and family. He obviously trained his dog to be aggressive towards other dogs. If you have an aggressive dog, do not bring them to the dog park. The park is for nice dogs to play. I'm not saying that you should not go here, I'm just saying that you need to be aware at all times and know that some dogs are not friendly. We will not be going back. Be aware of even nice families with dogs. If you see any aggressive dogs, go the other way. Get your dog out of that situation.

    Pretty big!

It's a nice park and has a pretty BIG dog park inside Ben Brenman park that people don't really know about. It's been always clean.

That was great. You can find the handmade Afghan rug, that was really nice and unique. We had good time

Ben Brenman Park is named after in the honor of Colonel Ben Brenman and is located right off of Holmes Run Parkway, encompassing about 59 acres. The park has picnic benches, pathways, an amphitheater, athletic fields (where one is has a rectangular synthetic turf), a fenced-in dog park (closer to the library), some parking spots (as well as limited ones along the Parkway), a picnic pavilion with grills, a playground for children, a nice pond, public restrooms, as well as walking/bicycle trails. While the paths/trails are not lit besides with natural light, it's great to have a nice walk/stroll during the daytime. I highly recommend in crossing the wooden bridge to see the river during the evening, as it's pretty scenic and serene with the setting sun - it really makes you think you're somewhere completely different than in the middle of the busy city of Alexandria! I also like the open space off of Holmes Run Parkway, where there are winding trails, and the trees are more on the perimeter of the paths. Make sure you spray yourself with Deet, as there are many insects/bugs, especially during the hot humid summer season! +great scenic view of the river :D +picnic areas available +fenced-in dog park +walking/bike trails +some parking available

I'm just here for the dogs. More accurately, my dog was just here for the dogs. But there were none to be found... Sigh. We were driving from Florida to Vermont over several days with a stop in Maryland that night at a relative's home. We stopped by this park some my border terrier could run out any crazies she might have from being cooped up in the car for hours on end. We did have a nice 20 minute walk form the main part of the park to the deserted dog park on one side and then to the deserted (and very muddy) dog park on the other side... But there is no way I can wear out this little fella in 30 minutes the way a new four-legged friend could in 10. It was around 5 pm. Usually dog parks are starting to fill up at that time! But no one was there, and we had to walk pretty far to find this out. (I mean, heaven forbid I get some exercise while trying to tire out my dog, right? But seriously, if you are in a rush, the parking situation could be a drawback.) Maybe I'm spoiled by Vermont dog parks. Maybe it was just an off day. But next time, we'll keep driving.

It's a nice clean spot. I went to feed the ducks and was disappointed by a sign that said "do not feed animals". Nice for a quiet scroll

You don't have to live in the Carlyle area to use this park! Also a tip, Mill Rd. turns into Andrews Ln.--once you see the Residence Inn Marriott on your left and the Carlyle Towers on your right, keep going down that road! I wouldn't recommend using the water fountains (though they rarely work) because there's always something funky in the bowl there. So bring your own water! I agree with other reviews, the pebble gravel in the small dog area is pretty bad and I'm sure it can be difficult to maneuver for some. There are a few parking spaces but they are shared with the tennis courts that are right next to the dog park. My dog has had a few good experiences here, mostly in the small dog park area. We tried out the bigger dog area the first few times and it did not work out for him because a lot of the larger dogs liked to gang up on him. That isn't the park's fault. Just like every other dog park, we should always be aware of our dogs' safety and happiness.

I have to say that our young pup had a complete BLAST, so it definitely was worth the hour drive for our visit. The doggy playground is a pretty large space that has various obstacle courses apparatuses that dogs can attempt to conquer while playing with other dogs. I really appreciated that Snouts & Stouts' layout was pretty well organized. I thought the rules for both humans and dogs were pretty fair. Also, we really appreciated the speed in which our dog's vaccination records were verified. We managed to email our dog's vet records and have them confirmed within an hour of our first visit. Unlike most regular dog parks, Snouts & Stouts had a couple of folks (aka "rufferees") to ensure that everyone was having a good time. I loved the idea of the rufferees because it is a great way to have an unbiased person regulate the playground. As one might suspect, some owners can be super-sensitive or super-lax regarding their dog's behaviors and interactions with other dogs and humans. The playground has a separate place from the play ground where humans and dogs can consume their food. However, folks are permitted to consume beverages in the main playing area. The bar had an extensive variety of fun beverages for both humans and dogs. I thought the beers and cocktails were reasonable priced considering the area. Unfortunately, the chef was unavailable during our visit so we could not try any of the human food. A minor issue for me because I was STARVING. Fortunately for my appetitive, Snouts and Stouts had plenty of beers (particularly IPAs) that I could choose from. In general, I thought the playground was pretty clean and well-maintained. While the area was not super clean, it defiantly was 100% cleaner than any outdoor dog park. During our visit, I did notice that there was a mop bucket with soapy water near the dogs' water stations. While the mop bucket wasn't a huge deal, I thought it was a little strange that it was in that location considering a dog or two could have access to the soapy water. Perhaps, this was a minor oversight by the staff. I thought the price of entry (10 bucks for a day pass) was extremely generous. Also, if you purchase $40 worth of food and drinks (as of July 2025), you'll receive a free day pass for your next visit. Looking forward to making Snouts and Stouts a nice treat for our dog...as well as ourselves.
