Belvedere Esso in Charlottetown is stealing money from unsuspecting customers at their gas pumps. Here's how it works; when you pay with your card the machine asks you to choose the amount you think you're going to take. I knew that my fill up would be more than $40 but less than $60, so I pushed $60. My receipt from the pump at the end of the fill up was $46.03.
When I checked my online bank account later in the day my Visa card had been debited $60. When I returned to the store to complain about this I was told to keep my receipt, and check my Visa account in a couple of days where I would be credited with the difference.
Net result; they have my money for whatever time they choose to make the adjustment.
Problem; suppose I'm not so vigilant in checking my Visa account. Does Esso get to keep my $14 dollars? How many thousands of unsuspecting shoppers don't catch them at this scam.
This business practice is not just immoral it's fraudulent and must be stopped.
