Family Sunset Photo Ad - packages start at $199, NOT $35..
    Jo R.

My husband and I stayed at the Bellwether from Aug 8-Aug 11, 2024 to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary. We booked a direct beach view room online for a pretty good discount (40% off promotion). Overall: It was fine...we made the best of it. Probably won't stay here again tho. Be diligent with your research! Pros: -LOCATION! Directly on the beach. Can't beat it. -Amazing direct view of the beach. Awesome for sunrise and sunset watching -Onsite restaurants + bars -Great drinks! Food was slightly above average -Resort fee included cabanas, beach towels and poolside/beachside services -Helpful staff. The front desk associate allowed us to check in early and waived the $75 early check-in fee for us. We arrived around 11:30am and our room was ready within the next hour. She also extended our check-out to 12pm. Our bathroom sink wasn't draining and the front desk was able to get someone to fix it within the hour. I was also in contact with the concierge leading up to our trip - he provided a lot of information re: room upgrades, private car service options, excursion options, etc. He answered many questions and helped coordinate special happy anniversary decor. However, it was $50 for flower petals scattered on the bed and I assumed they'd use real flowers considering the price, but it was the fake paper/plastic petals. I honestly could have gone to the dollar store and done it myself. Alas, here we are. It looked cute, at least. My only con re: staff is I wish they were more transparent with the elevators and conditions of the hotel. Cons: -DO NOT BOOK "FREE" 25 MIN SUNSET PHOTOSHOOT THE HOTEL ADVERTISES. The sign is misleading stating "minimum of $35 purchase." Psh, packages started at $199....Total scam. I believe it was 8 photos for $199, 13 photos for $299 and all photos for $399 (for us we shot 177 photos) plus tax/tip - all packages included edits. So unreasonable and pressures people to purchase the highest package obviously because it's more "bang for your buck." JC Penny quality/vibe shoot, kinda cheesy. Photographer used a ring light AND flash while we shot outside with beautiful natural lighting (it washed out the sunset). Photos were fine......but honestly wouldn't have paid more than $100 for it based on quality. My husband and I are truly embarrassed we fell for this and did not push back. Nice photographer, but not worth it esp considering he didn't tell us the cost until AFTER we looked through the photos and asked us to mark out favorites. He knew what he was doing lol. Looking back I should have asked what the pricing was prior to the actual shoot cause then we wouldn't have wasted our time with it. It was unlike me to do so, but I guess I had a few drinks at that point and did not do my research. I assumed it would be priced significantly lower. That's how they get ya. -Elevators were not in service. There was a hurricane the weekend prior to our stay so the staff told us that the elevator flooded from the storm so guests had to use the tiny service elevator or the stairs. Our room was on the 8th floor. This didn't bother us too much cause at least the service elevator was working, but this became really inconvenient when large groups of people + staff were all waiting for it. There was a wedding on Aug 10 and we felt so bad for all the bride/groom, their guests and vendors who had to deal with that. On our last day, we heard from a staff member that the elevators have actually been broken for 2 weeks and NOT from the storm a few days prior. This seemed pretty ridiculous that it wasn't fixed sooner ESPECIALLY knowing there was an upcoming wedding. -Multiple ceiling leaks in the main lobby. Very awkward to walk through. Felt like hotel was still under construction -Small pool. Was often crowded and slightly warm

Good stay. Hotel is nice, clean, convenient - pool to elevator to room 35 steps. Beach is incredible! Staff friendly. Only dropped by rooftop at night - nice views. Sorry we missed revolving restaurant a top - would be pretty & fun for at sunset. Appears to get quite busy - make reservation. Recommend stay - we'll be back. Bongos food & drink do not compare to the Bon-Aire & Sandbar Bills. Do yourself favor & walk 1/4 south & don't miss this beach bar. Cheeseburgers & other foods delicious - nothing fried. The drinks best prices on the beach!!! Enjoy.

The amazing staff left a note and chocolate cake

I truly can't say enough good things about the beautiful Bellwether Beach Resort. My mom and I (teachers from IN) stayed here during Fall Break for my birthday. Everything about this resort was above and beyond. Our room was gorgeous and extremely clean. The staff, especially Sean and his front desk staff, were beyond fantastic. Food here was fabulous. All the employees were friendly, fun and made us feel like family. We already booked AGAIN for our next vacation. Thank you, Bellwether family for making us feel so welcome. Best vacation EVER!!! They even delivered chocolate cake to our room for my birthday. LOVE this place and can't wait to come back for many years ahead!!

We had an amazing time celebrating our 23rd wedding anniversary at this boutique resort. Everyone was so accommodating and happy to assist. Not one negative vibe! Even the other guests were kind and pleasant. Bongos did not disappoint with food or cocktails omg the best! Spinners was a cool experience. Only complaint is one elevator worked but the wait time wasn't too bad. Hubby said the grounds could have been maintained better as it relates to pressure washing some areas and a bit of grass growing up on the patio but it didn't bother me. OAN the daily resort fee was more than worth the value. Great views. We will be back!

Wildly overpriced food and drinks but the room was beautiful, and the front desk staff were friendly.

What a beautiful remodeled Hotel staff was great the room was gorgeous and the views are breathtaking. The only mistake we made was not visiting the restaurant before going out and eating somewhere else. It has a rotating restaurant on the top of the hotel it looked breathtaking.

    Rehearsal Dinner
    AJ B.

We booked a rehearsal dinner at Bellweather (Bongos) and we're extremely pleased. We had a party of about 24 people and I'm amazed at how many people told me how good the food was. Usually for weddings/rehearsal dinners, especially buffet style, sometimes the "quality" of the food isn't great. The exact opposite here. We actually stayed at a resort next to Bellweather and I'm very interested in staying HERE the next time we visit. Thank you.

Save room for the chocolate torte!

The Bellwether is a revolving restaurant with a great view of the Gulf of Mexico and food to match. Our party of four had grouper. chicken, mac and cheese with lobster and ravioli -- all delicious -- plus asparagus and Yukon mash potato sides that were easily suitable for four. Cindy, our server, was a lot of fun -- a great personality and sense of humor and candid with her recommendations. The splendid chocolate torte capped an exceptional dinner.

Evening view of the Gulf from the outdoor seating on the second to top floor.
    Bill O.

We stayed at Bellwether to celebrate our 30th. The advance call from the concierge enabled me to have champagne, flowers, and a note awaiting our arrival. Nicely done. Liked the renovation to lobby from our prior trip there. I grade on the COVID curve and appreciate the staff who were clearly working hard, including the beach staff. I do miss the interior breakfast option, with the outdoor eating area the only full-service option. We will visit again.

Since we're staying for over a week, the ocean-view rooms were only available for two or three days, not for the full length of our stay. I ended up booking a partial ocean-view room instead, but it honestly makes me sad. I also asked if we could have a room near the end of the hallway, closer to the ocean, but I was told that nothing could be done because the room had already been assigned. This was the same situation last year as well. Saint Pete Beach is beautiful, and although there aren't many nice brand-name hotels in the area, we choose Hilton because it's pet-friendly. Other than not being able to secure an ocean-view room, hopefully everything will be nice. Housekeeping was very disappointing during our nine-day stay. They didn't wipe the tables or the desk at all. They also didn't clean our shower or bathroom sink for the entire nine days; they only emptied the trash and replaced the towels. Four stars or three stars I don't know.

The views are beautiful, and the location is right on the beach. There are plenty of spaces in the lobby for working, plenty of meeting rooms (or ball rooms if you're there for a formal event), and areas to just relax or work. The resort provides live music various days of the week as well. I will say that I was surprised about the lack of dining options. There is a lobby bar (which doesn't open until 3pm), and just two restaurant options. Maritana is only open a few days a week and not open until 5:30pm, although the lobby bar does serve a few small plates. The Society Table has a bar within their restaurant (Rowe Bar I believe), and I experienced both as they both have different menus. The lobby bar menu is small but great; the Wagyu Sliders and charcuterie board were both delicious. The wine list is fairly extensive as well. I dined at the society table for lunch on the day that I left and I got the Gumbo with jalapeño cornbread. This was very delicious; I do feel there should've been more than a few pieces of chopped up shrimp. My waitress was wonderful though and very kind as well as the hostess. For the days we were provided food by the resort for the work conference, I was very impressed! All of the breakfast, lunch, and dinner options were incredibly extensive, fresh, and delicious. The servers were very attentive and helpful. The room service menu although overpriced and included a $5 "delivery charge," is very extensive and tasty. For example, an omelet with toast (small salad included with the omelette), was almost $60 including tip. That being said, it was the best omelette I've ever had. The guest services for room service and the cleaners were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Evan! Do note that this is a cashless resort. There are a few shops on the first floor for souvenirs, basic necessities for traveling, and then an adorable little shop/café with ice cream, coffee, wine, snacks, and drinks. On to the room! I really enjoyed my room. I feel like for one person or even two, it's a pretty spacious room. The bed was very comfortable as well as pillows. They cleaned my room each day, and provided new towels. The bathroom was clean and a decent size for one person. All of the events that the hotel put on for our conference were outstanding. We had a welcome party and a beach party, and I was incredibly impressed. The food was delicious, the staff incredibly attentive and kind, and the music wonderful! The Don CeSar was the perfect place for our conference and I would highly recommend a company conference there. Between the delicious food, impeccable service, beautiful resort, and location right on the beach, I would recommend this spot for an event, quick getaway, or staycation.

The service in this hotel is very good overall. The pools and the beach are superb. We chose this resort as a special anniversary vacation, and this is part of the lower review. We ultimately felt the hotel discount promotion and phone sales was misleading. Ambiguous communication led us to believe we would receive a free night, however we later realized and were told that the discount was already built in to our price, although no sign of discount was found anywhere on our invoice. I'm self employed and I've managed business for 35 years, and I've not seen discounts that don't show on an invoice. Se beware of promotional discount offers as it may not be what you expect, and you'll be left with no way to disprove the phantom discount because it's not on your invoice, apparently is just spoken. Overall service was very good. We had a minor blip in the maritana, which was the wrong dessert brought to us, and presented as "happy anniversary" with a chocolate that said that, but was strangely charged to us. The waitress handled it like a pro. I would advise the chef to either ignore birthdays and anniversaries and that sort of thing, or offer a small free dessert. But definitely don't bring out a "happy anniversary" dessert then charge for it. Also had overcooked hard poached eggs at the society table - no big deal just no runny yolk. If not for the price, who cares? But with such a great menu and fantastic chef, they should get eggs right. No discount offered. But I ate it so... All of our food was great, and really well developed and complete dishes as if it were Michelin rated. Cheers to the chef. Just two very minor fails. Overall it was a nice stay but we won't go back mainly because ultimately they didn't step up over a $600ish discrepancy over a 5 night stay. Look at my reviews. It's very rare I don't write 5 stars. I'm not one of those people that gives a bunch of bad reviews. The highlight of this resort is the beach, the pools, and the menu. Service is good overall. So definitely some good.

Unfortunately, the noise level significantly impacted our stay. We were in Room 28, and directly behind the room is a hallway used by staff from the upstairs bar. Throughout the first night, we heard a heavy door repeatedly slamming and staff using rolling carts to transport trash. The noise continued until about 3:00 a.m., making it very difficult to sleep. The next morning, I expressed my concerns to the front desk. He was polite, apologized, and said he would pass the information along. However, the noise resumed again the following night. Closer to midnight, after another loud door slam, I spoke with a different staff member who was very receptive and respectful. After that conversation, the noise level did decrease. I understand that hotel operations continue behind the scenes, but for a property positioned as an upscale boutique experience, I would expect better late-night noise control -- especially in rooms directly adjacent to service areas. The hotel has a lot of potential, and the cleanliness was excellent. However, due to the repeated overnight noise disruption, I would be hesitant to stay in that location of the property again.
