Hiring a doula was a great option for us! Katie M was the doula my husband and I worked with, and she is the absolute BEST. Katie and I would chat via phone after my OB appointments and go over the details of the appointment as well as anything I was nervous about. I would tell Katie little things that made me anxious, and she would talk through those worries with me. Katie would also send text messages in between our phones calls checking in and making sure I was feeling at ease. The night my contractions began, I texted Katie at 2 am, and she responded right away. She walked me through what to look for and what to expect. Once I was in my L&D room, Katie was by my side! Katie's presence in the delivery room was so calming and reassuring. My husband would ask her questions or advice which made him feel so much better about the whole process. My biggest concern was feeling scared, but Katie constantly reassured me on every step. I was pleasantly surprised that pregnancy, labor, and delivery went better than I anticipated. Having a doula was a game changer for my mental health, and it was the best decision for myself and my husband.

My wife and I attempted to make contact north of 12 times and on 8/28 (LESS THAN 30 DAYS BEFORE DELIVERY) filed a dispute with the credit card company (for failure to provide service). Totally unethical, uncoordinated, and unprofessional. Do yourself a favor and hire anyone but Susquehanna Doulas. They are a scam. I just received a call from my credit card company that they are disputing the dispute and have told the credit card company they provided the services. We we never able to make contact after payment or meet any party representing Susquehanna Doulas. STAY AWAY!!!

As a first time mom, I really had no idea what help a doula could provide, but after doing some research and talking to my OBGYN, my husband and I reached out to Amy at Dauphin County Doulas. Amy set up a zoom call for us to connect and discuss what I was hoping to achieve working together and it was a great experience from the very beginning. Education and baby basics, as well as another set of hands to help, were my main goals. My husband and I both can honestly say we got that and more working with Amy! I had some complications during my delivery that got my breastfeeding journey off to a slow start. Amy was at my house the day after I got home from the hospital and provided invaluable support and knowledge about nursing in those critical first days. Having someone so knowledgeable to weigh in on our specific circumstances in my home, without me having to go to a lactation consultant appointment at the hospital, saved my husband and I hours of going down internet rabbit holes as first time parents. She helped me as I dealt with some baby blues and the physical issues that come with having a c-section. From making sure I was eating a healthy lunch to helping me with the baby between feeds so I could take a much needed nap, I wouldn't have been able to heal and recover as quickly as I did without Amy helping me 2-3 days a week the first few weeks. We worked together until my son was around 8 weeks old and the version of us she left was night and day different from the version she saw day one. He is a thriving, happy baby who is gaining weight at a really good rate exclusively breastfeeding and is sleeping through the night already at 12 weeks because of our time spent working together. I will forever be grateful for Amy getting us through those difficult first weeks and can't recommend working with her and Dauphin County Doulas enough.
