I won a giftcard for a session in a silent auction, and my husband and I used it for newborn…read morepictures of our son. When I called Tracy to set up the session, I was very pleased to hear that they would travel to any location for the session! As a first time mom with a colicky infant, it would have been great to stay home or travel somewhere close by. However, I never received the follow up email from our phone conversation and when I called about it, Tracy told me it wouldn't be possible that day because she had booked appointments immediately before and after ours. Not only did this mean that we wouldn't be able to do the session at home or nearby, it also meant that we would only have 1 hour max, even though the session was advertised as up to 2 hours. We drove to the studio for the pictures, and the baby was quite tired and fussy by the time we got there. We figured we would just make the most of it anyway! We got a few pictures, and then I could tell he was getting hungry and tired. I said this and Tracy kept saying "oh, he's fine." I think she was trying to reassure me, but I didn't appreciate it, since I know when my son is unhappy. We took a break to nurse the baby, and then we started another round of pictures. After a few more, we headed out because the baby was super fussy and tired. We were glad to have gotten a few pictures, but wished we had more time since he only takes short naps and probably could have napped and been ready to go for more pictures if we had the full 2 hours. When the pictures were ready, she asked us to go into the studio to get them. This was not something I wanted to do, since it was not close by and the baby continues to hate the car! I also had some other things going on at the time and driving a half hour to get photos that could be sent digitally was not a priority. I pushed back on this, and thankfully, we were able to get digital access. When we got the pictures, the baby looked super tired and not very happy in most of them. Also, many of the pictures were taken on blankets to create a nice background but angle of the photos weren't quite right so the floor beneath the blanket was showing in some of them. We planned to order some of the ones we liked, but were surprised by the high price of prints - like $30 for a single print! Luckily, the package we got in the silent auction included a $100 print credit. I emailed about this and was given a coupon code to use, but I was told it would expire in 7 days. The $100 was included in the cost of the session so saying it would expire just seems like a scam to me! Ultimately, I felt like we were given poor service either because 1. The company is not very good and Tracy is okay with ripping people off, or 2. She knew that she was not being paid for our session (since what we paid in the silent auction went to charity) and so she wasn't invested in doing a good job. Or maybe a little of both.

As a professional wedding photographer, I wasn't sure how easy it was going to be for me to say…read more"yes" to OUR wedding photographer. Having known Chris since High School and having worked with him as an assistant for a wedding he photographed, I knew who he was, I knew his style and I knew his equipment. I was comfortable knowing all of the above, so my now husband, Justin and I went to meet him to discuss options to have him as our photographer. Before walking into the meeting, I had practically made my mind up already that he was who we would book, but I wanted Justin to meet him and I wanted to get those "warm fuzzies" from our conversation. After the meeting, we were thrilled to choose Chris to photograph our big day! First came our engagement shoot; like I said, I am also a photographer, but my goal was to act as though I had never held a camera in my life. Chris and his wife April took the reigns and helped Justin and I with the entire shoot from start to finish. When we saw the final product, we were over the moon!! With the engagement pictures out of the way, we certainly looked forward to what our photos would look like from our BIG day! Prior to our wedding day, Chris took the time to get every detail straight regarding wants/needs to ensure our wedding day was seamless. He showed up with a list on our wedding day of everything that we had discussed! During our ceremony and reception, Chris and his assistant were all over the place but never came across as invasive.
