    My issue is not with this particular store, but with the company "American Mattress" In short, I…read moreordered 2 mattresses on May 16, 2025 and was informed at the time of purchase that they were not in the warehouse and it would take 2 weeks to get them in and delivered, that was okay with my husband and I. At 3 weeks past purchase date my husband called the store and was informed that they were not in yet and it may take another week. On June 21st my husband called the store again, and was told the same thing, that it might take a couple more weeks, and in addition Rick the sales man, said the mattresses were a special order, and we were not the only customers waiting for mattresses. Special order? Total lie- they were not a special order. So on July 5th I called the store and spoke to Rick, and again stated he had no idea when the mattresses would be in the warehouse, and he stated" you're not the only person waiting for mattresses" I told him this was totally unacceptable and I would look into this matter myself. On July 7th I called the corporate office and spoke to Tanya, I explained everything, and she was apologetic, she did not see any information as to when I would receive my mattresses. She told me that they purchase their mattresses in Lots/Bulk from the manufacturer, so unless they have several orders for a particular mattress, they will not purchase the mattresses from the manufacturer because they don't want them just sitting in the warehouse, she could not tell me when they would order the Lot/bulk purchase for my mattresses. She promised she would have someone call me back. That same day I filed a complaint with the Illinois Better Business Bureau. No one ever called me back from the corporate office, or the store, to try and resolve my problem. On July 14th I called the corporate office again, spoke to a different receptionist and explained no one ever called me, and I wanted to talk to someone in charge there at the corporate office, I was put on hold and then connected to Josh. I didn't know at first I was connected to the Lake Zurich store. Josh was nice, he was pleasant to speak with, and understood my frustrations, I told him I want a refund, nothing less. Josh stated he would make a phone call and have someone call me back. I didn't think anyone would call me, but about 30 minutes later, Mike- who I think is the district manager called me back, he was apologetic and agreed that they needed to refund me in full since he cant tell me when the mattresses would be in stock. Josh processed my full refund, and I am finally finished with this nightmare of trying to purchase mattresses from a "Family Owed and Operated" company. So my advice, get your mattresses elsewhere so that you don't have the same problems I had and several other customers have had- read all the reviews!

When I visited the store in Deer Park, Illinois, I inquired about what would happen to my existing 13-year-old Sleep Number bed, which no longer holds its firmness. I asked, point-blank, whether it would be removed at no charge. I was given a clear and affirmative response--yet I ended up paying $80. related to its removal. I went on to explain to both the salesperson & the store manager, my reservations about investing in another Sleep Number product. I mentioned that my second bed in Florida repeatedly requires resetting, and although I was told this was likely due to an outdated Wi-Fi signal (2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz), I was reassured that newer software updates had resolved such issues. During the sales process, I was shown a warranty card and told I could purchase an additional three-year warranty for $350 at any time before delivery. I decided to take some time to consider it, given the gravity of the purchase. Later, I was shocked to find out the price was actually $399--yet another discrepancy that I find completely unacceptable. Sadly, I didn't read the fine print on the card they flashed, but trusted their words. To compound my frustration, I have now learned that delivery will occur later in the month leaving me no option but to sleep on a couch for the next 11 days. For a purchase of over $12,000, I expected--and frankly deserved--a far smoother, more transparent process. This experience has felt like a bait-and-switch operation, and had my husband not been battling cancer and in urgent need of a bed with elevation and climate control, I would have taken my business elsewhere. Instead, I trusted the brand and falsely assumed they would deliver with integrity and care, but that was where I made my first mistake. It's evident that Sleep Number and its representatives prioritized making the sale over honest communication!

District manager Doug Markum refuses to contact me to discuss my concerns. Please avoid Sleep Number like your life depends on it. Deceptive company with horrible customer service and poor quality products. I lost nearly $4k to this company I genuinely advise you to avoid Sleep Number at all costs, and this location specifically. Please do your research online and please read the fine print before making any purchase. My husband and I are eating the cost of a $3,500 adjustable base because our sales person (Kathy Miller) not once verbalized that the base is nonrefundable. In fact she said the opposite to scam us of our money- "if you don't like it, it will be like you never had it". Please please please, ask all the questions you can and ask about their return policies. Do not let them deceive you like they did to us. We were able to return the mattress (which was horrible, way over priced, not at all like the display in the store, and gimmicky- believe what they say online "glorified air mattress"), however, we have to eat a $250 fee for sleep number to collect the returned mattress (again, Kathy Miller never mentioned this). Whatever you do, please don't just believe/assume that Sleep Number is a good and reputable company like we did. Do your research, ask questions, read the fine print, don't sign anything without a thorough explanation of what you are signing. To make your life a lot easier- just avoid sleep number. Lastly. Arnie the manager is profoundly unprofessional and childish. You should be ashamed of yourself and the business you run.
