I had an overall okay experience here and acknowledge that this is a student learning salon with a family friendly environment. The students were kind and clearly trying their best while learning new skills. The salon did seem short on some supplies during my visit, and communication from management could have felt a little more welcoming. I did end up needing to have my hair and nails corrected elsewhere, which cost additional time and money, but I still appreciate the effort the students put into their work and understand they are still in training. read more

The student was coughing and sneezing and I asked her if she was sick . I asked if she could put a mask she went to asked .A black female came out and said they don't have any mask .And she started saying that if they were sick she would not be there. How dare you disrespect her and the a/c could have made her sick. read more

I went to this school and i totally recommend not going here. The teachers are very unprofessional and are a lack of knowledge. You learn more on youtube than in this school. They focus more on the money than the students. read more

I've been to Bella Beauty College twice now for a Brazillian blowout and it's turned out amazing each time! I did see low reviews on Yelp and will say for my first trip last summer, I scheduled an appointment and when I arrived no one had any record of my appointment. However, they still got me in and did a great job. The second time around (last weekend) I just called day-of to see if they had availability and they did so I came in as a walk-in and they got me in straight away! I'm a pretty patient person and don't mind waiting so if that's not you, this may not be the best choice, but it is a school so they take their time to make sure they get things right. Claudia did my Brazillian Blowout treatment most recently and she did an amazing job! I'm biracial and have long thick hair so it took around 5 hours to complete, including my trim, but I love the result! Some of the other girls also pitched in to help flat iron my hair to speed up the process. Everyone was very patient and thorough. I also get sent home with full sized bottles of the name brand Brazillian Blowout shampoo and conditioner! Truly can't get a better deal than that. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

Ok so this is the LAST time these fools are going to see me! On my initial visit I had my reservations due to not seeing any African American students in the spot to braid my hair.. After being reassured that there was someone there who could do my braids (Hilda) I put my trust in this young lady...well she did a bang up job. Fast forward about a month later, I set an appointment with Hilda, was told she would be available. I show up on the appointment day and lo and behold, Im told she graduated THAT DAY...shes there all giddy...but um..you couldn't have told me before me coming down here? or better yet you cant do my hair?? Anyhoo, they assigned me 2 students who took 30 mins to do one cornrow. I politely excused myself and ran to the nearest african braiding shop.. WILL NOT BE BACK. read more

I really love the student that did my hair she was very sweet. I tipped her well because she was really good. I went to cosmetology school before and I thought I went to a terrible school but going here for a color I knew I got a good education at my beauty school. I wanted a color and a trim. The girl did ask a lot of question but both instructors gave her opposite directions... the instructor was very unsure what she was doing( mind you they charge by the ounce !) so if they need to add more bleach or product to your hair because the instructor didn't know what to do then that's on your $$. I would say I was overcharged and I thought I over herd something about the price how they were going to blame it on the cashier ?? I knew I was going to come out something Different but the instructors need to be replace. Obviously with the one star meaning I wouldn't come back to this place... The student didn't know what a balayage was!? They should know what a balayage is its 2020. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. On the website it specifically says "haircut includes blow dry and wash." I went there and got a trim literally an eighth of an inch off of my hair and a blow dry. I even called before hand to verify the prices and they told me $7 and then with the blowdry $10. Although that was not what was listed on the site, per my picture below, I figured it was doable. Please also note that No where on the website does it say blow dry "straight". I was there for TWO hours for this simple do, and the student pretty much burned my scalp and the other instructor worked on me half the time. When I went to check out, the male instructor charges me $31! That is RIDICULOUS ESP for a school!!! literally the price of a professional salon, oh by the way includes a blowdry free of service with any treatment. Also, if I knew that I would've never ever gone to a school. if the prices vary per length, style, etc. they should really tell you that before you do the service. I could've easily done my hair myself or went to another school. I have been to two other cosmetology schools in Austin and I have never paid over $10 for the same service. He brought it down to $21 after fighting with me and I said I'm not paying more than $15, which is still a lot in my opinion for a school and my time. He kept arguing with me, giving me attitude, and telling me that "I'm cheating the students", when the students do not even get paid! I went to aesthetician school, I know how it works. And good customer service would honor what was said or you would honor that price without fighting with your client. I will NEVER step foot in there again and I want to put this out as a public service announcement and frankly, I want my money back. I live within walking distance from Bella Beauty & was in need of a trim. I figured a simple cut of my split ends wouldn't be that hard to do... ha! I felt like an animal in a zoo getting a bad hair cut. As I sat in the salon chair, 6 girls standing around me trying to figure out how to trim my layers. To make matters even worse nobody spoke English fluently there... I can't even describe how bad my hair looked upon leaving; the top half of my hair was cut to right above my ear, the second half shoulder length... did I mention when I went in there for a trim my hair was mid way down my backI literally cried! read more

Nope. 100% nope. Went to get my lashes and brows tinted, came out with dye stains under my lashes and two black rectangular blocks for eyebrows. My skin is stained in different areas all around my eye. I was in a rush and left mortified. Saw two supervisors on the way out who obviously saw my embarrassing brows, they said nothing and just charged my card. I thought I could maybe get it off myself, nope. So I call up ask to see if there's anyway I can fix them, if I could come in, a home remedy or at the very least a refund. Again, nope. Bella Beauty College in N. Austin (never go to the S. Austin location) was great and they use professional products like Matrix color. I'm African American and wear my hair natural usually in flat twist; now when you walk in the students (mostly non african american) were doing some serious enthic hairstyling. and I mean better than what they do at the salon where you may pay $85.00 and up (crochet braids, spiral sets, two strand twist, and many more). I'm from Houston and been here for about a year and haven't found a decent natural stylist but this "Bella Beauty College" is on FIRE. I highly recommend it especially if you are looking for somewhere that does all types/ethnicity of hair. Oh yeah they also has some geat specials too. read more

When I walked in the door one of the customers cut in front of me. I opened my mouth to speak to the receptionist/stylist and she instantly shook her head no, we are closing in an hour. I went to Bella Beauty college a few days before Christmas. I had been going there for months. I walk in and no one is at the front desk. So I ask a guy if he works there and he says no as he walked by. The front desk person finally showed up and calls the guy 'that doesn't work there' to cut my hair I tell him I want a bald cut and he says okay. He does a partial cut and then says he's not allowed to do anymore. I told the woman at the front desk that now I had to go find another place to get my haircut and wasn't paying twice in the same night for one haircut. I left them my card and she threatened to call the police on me for theft. I was willing to pay if those people had done the job they had agreed to. Why would he agree to do it and then decide not to midway? I don't plan to ever go back there. read more

I have been to a couple of other beauty schools when I was in desparate need of a (cheap) pedicure. I would not recommend this one. The place is in need of some serious updates, but that alone would not have bothered me too much. They asked me if I wanted the express pedicure which is just a soak, and nail painting, or the deluxe which includes the sloughing and massage. I opted for the later. They had two students work on my feet at the same time. I'm glad I didn't have on a skirt! The soaking consisted of one of those home foot spas that you fill with water and it vibrates and keeps the water warm. I was in a regular, plastic chair with no headrest. They only had one pedicure stool for the students, so the second student propped my foot up on a towel in her lap. This was not the least bit comfortable. The sloughing and massage was 5 minutes tops. The painting was ok, but my leg and my back hurt when I left. Do yourself a favor and just paint your own toes or wait until you have more than $20 to spend. read more
