Many friends pointed me to Clifford Upholstery. Their work was booked five months out. I consider​ed​ that a good sign. ​ ​Next, the fabric. Clifford's has an excellent fabric collection, but I'm used to scanning 24 of something at a time on a laptop. I spent eight months looking diligently for fabric and then bought it from Clifford's. (There don't seem to be many honest fabric dealers online.) I picked out expensive fabric​s​. So with good furniture and expensive fabric, ​I needed an ​equally good ​upholsterer. ​ ​​The furniture ​looked breathtaking when it came back. ​The ​dining ​chair backs have ​four curves on the top and taper toward the seat. On top of that, I picked a complicated pattern. ​But it was positioned beautifully on all eight chairs, including their double welts. ​Same attention to detail on the sofa. I didn't realize what high quality work it was until one friend, sadder but wiser, pointed out everything that her reupholstery lacked.

Now I have contracted with them to do our bathroom and kitchen remodel. They do fabulous work and I feel very fortunate to have found them here on yelp.

I didn't mind the dust, rumbling, or noise, but their carelessness ended up damaging a significant part of my fence by backing through it with an excavator. The gentlemen on site would have left a giant hole in my fence if it weren't for my partner running over and asking them to fashion a temporary patch. For the permanent fix, repeated calls went unanswered. When I finally did get through, the person who I spoke with could not have cared any less. The conversation went a little something like this: "Hi, I'm the one who left voicemails about my fence." "K." "Yeah, during the course of construction, one of your excavators backed through my fence." "K.." "So... when are you going to fix it?" "Uhhh... what stage is it at? Framing? Probably in a couple weeks." "Great! That works perfectly." "Awesome. Okay, bye." "Wait. Don't you need my contact information?" "You live next door, right? Just come by and talk to someone on the work site in a couple weeks." A few days later, I found out they had been fired from the project a month before. My issue is finally being resolved by the actual property owner. Element Construction is an awfully crooked company, though.

This review would have been worse back then…read more Although the end product turned out well, the construction was to take 3 months to complete and took almost a year. J the boss will blame us but his inability to efficiently manage the project and make us happy throughout the project failed. This all happened because we are experienced with home repairs, etc. and questioned many things. J did not appreciate this and penalized us with delays and more. FYI - J&J has very few employees and hires subs to actual do the work. A few of the subs we had were excellent and some were very unskilled and sub-par. There was a lot of rework because of shoddy workmanship and repairs causing delays. The overall quality of the remodel was good but only because of our oversight. This project was an expensive nightmare for us and we can't provide a favorable review - AVOID THIS CONTRACTOR! P. S. Dan, the on sight construction lead was phenomenal and without his efforts and the contract we signed, J&J would have been fired early into the project.
