Ridiculous cost may have been because they took it upon themselves to have my coat dry cleaned without my permission - I've washed it over a dozen times trying to get the stink out, but those chemicals are hardcore and almost impossible to remove, so now I get sick every time I wear it... guess my six hundred and something dollar parka is ruined now, and I can't replace it with my pension budget.
