The Bell has reopened with a new owner - who already owns the Queen nearby. The decor has been freshened up. And the food - which was already very good under chef Stuart - remains excellent. Try the whitebait to share as you wait (never long) for your meal. Fish and chips is always excellent - fresh and tasty haddock in a fine crispy batter and excellent chips (though not quite as good as the triple-cooked chips they used to do) - and the Bell burger is fantastic, a mountain of beef, bun, deep-fried onion and of course chips. The menu is quite extensive and has nothing that I wouldn't recommend, and for smaller appetites the children's menu sizes are just as good and sufficient
A crisp Sauvignon 'Innocent Goose' and a decent Shiraz are always available and service from Kate and her team exemplary.
