Everything I buy 'food wise' tastes like cardboard, mainly because for the last seven months I have…read morebeen visiting my hubby at Halifax Royal hospital, they make a verity of sandwiches 'hot and cold' but when you are run down and in pain, all you need to buck you up is a smile. The woman who makes the hot sandwiches never EVER cracks a smile and when you pay her after a snappy that wil be X amount, you feel like you want to crawl under a stone. I always end up leaving the said sandwich as I feel so low. How the hell can that woman live with herself knowing that a lot of her customers are hospital visitors who have family members that are critically ill? FACE LIKE A FROZEN DUCK is all I can say. I would rather starve than go there again.

I found it to be a very friendly place: the staff there soon got to know me by sight (if not by name) and were always happy to do what they could to help. It obviously had a good reputation locally as it was often quite busy. The only slight drawback was the parking -- there wasn't any really! As a result I was sometimes looking anxiously over my shoulder for any passing traffic wardens If the same folk are still running this Post Office they certainly deserve people's support.

Ive found the staff there to be quite rude, refusing to do simple tasks that would make my visit longer, even when there has been no one else in. There was a change in the management a few months ago and the place is alot nicer to visit. I used to dread going into this place. It was always packed no matter what time of day it was, and…read morein my experience the staff were incredibly inefficient in dealing with routine queries. I went in there to post a package to Germany. For some reason the man behind the counter found this fact hilarious and proceeded to talk to his colleague in his native language for a good couple of minutes whilst gesturing at me. The staff seemed more focussed on selling the disco balls and ghastly home decorations and assorted electrical goods available in their 'shop' which took over half the post office than they did in serving customers. Goodbye and good riddance lousy old post office. Hello and welcome to new posh post office complete with electronic 'cashier number three pleeeease' system, friendly and efficient staff and a small shop which sells useful things such as jiffy bags and sellotape. Just how a post office should be. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't make a special trip to this post office if it wasn't just at the end of my road, but it is soooo much better than the old post office.

There weren't any automated machines, it was manned counters only, luckily the queues did seem to move pretty quickly with a good amount of staff members working, there wasn't too much space between the desks though, so a slight lack of privacy. The full counter operation meant I had to push my mail down a slot, I thought these had been phased out as I find them a little annoying compared to passing them over a high counter or mini parcel lift. Opening hours are pretty standard, they were advertising Sunday opening in the store however the hours advertised online were considerably difference, so that does need to be clarified. 3* - Average Post Office, nothing too special, would have been nicer to see a greater deal of technology or even a Post Box in the store, the selection of posting materials was good. The main priority would be fixing the opening hours as the difference between the in-store and online advertised hours seems to effect every day of the week!
