This is my favorite place to buy beer in the city. They have a really great selection of local brews and their prices are a few bucks less than the other distributors I've been to around the city. Yard's is typically $3-$4 less than anywhere else. They also have a really great selection of imported beers. In the front of the store they have some good specials as well. Even though I live only a block from Society Hill Beverage I almost always make the trek down to Bell's when I need beers. Be very careful in the parking lot, it's scary in there! Their selection is very good and while you can find places that have a more craft beer options you won't find a distributor that is cheaper than Bell, cases are usually $3-$4 cheaper, sometimes even more. Went here for a beer run the last time I was in Philly. Next to a Dunkin Donuts near South Columbus and the interstate. Upon walking in, it looked like a typical warehouse of cases of beverages. About 3 aisles of craft beer and a few more of BMC and other drinks and sodas. The prices are reasonable. I hate how the prices of the beers are not stickered or on the shelves; you have to consult the price book hanging by a chain on each aisle. And some of the prices aren't even in the book, you have to ask the guy directly at the checkout. Beers are organized via domestic or import, then by brewery name. A pretty good selection. They had cases of FBS, Rock Art, Bell's, Maredsous, Ommegang, Yard's, etc... too many to list. I bought a case of Bell's Double Cream Stout. Not a bad price either. There are mixed cases as well, for those who want a sampling of a brewery. You're pretty much on your own here. You come in, get what you need, and check out. If you ask, they'll help you but it's probably not necessary. Overall, it's not a beer museum like the Foodery. This is for someone who needs cases of beer. I dig. I recommend. I've been here a few times. Great website and I love their selection and their sale prices. Found some great deals here on closeout items. Seriously, an imported Belgian amber ale for 14.99 a case is unheard of. On the downside, they close early like 5 or 6 pm during the week. They don't keep much in the way of cold beer and the cold box is way in the back of the store so I just grab it warm from the front. No biggie, still 5 stars. Parking isn't bad but getting in and out of the lot can be a pain at rush hour. This is a great place to pick up some beer that is very reasonably priced. There is a very good variety, and it is not cramped inside like many other beer distributors. Today, I picked up two cases and on my way out I accidentally dropped one. Had a great experience today at bell beverage. It was the best place to wait in line for two hours because the owner and his wife handed out pretzels, water and soda to keep everyone hydrated in the heat. The owner was a very friendly guy who wanted to make sure everyone stayed hydrated and had a great time while standing in line. He handed out bell beverage T Shirts to everyone in line. Bell's Beverage has an impressive selection of local and other domestic microbrews and imports and their prices seem to be okay. The service staff can be a bit gruff and the parking lot traffic can be a bit ridiculous, but there is also a state liquor store next door that has pretty good selection -- it's not a super store like the one on Snyder or the one on Chestnut -- so a trip to Bell's lets you fill all (or most) alcohol needs in a one car-stop shopping trip. read more

Bell Beverage has one of the best selections of craft beers and imports in SE PA, and their prices are very fair. The store associates are always keeping an eye out for customers that look like they could use help, without crossing the line of being pushy. With that said, the store is well organized and I rarely need help finding anything. Cold beer is kept in the back. Keep an eye out for deals in the front of the store. The store is located just off of I-95 near the Philly sports stadiums, so it's easy to get in and out if you want to make a quick stop. I've actually set up a few trades where we met up in Bell's parking lot. The owner, Frank, is often around and loves talking beer and listening to his customers so that he can learn about new craft beer trends and what he can to do improve customer experience in the store. read more

I like Bell and they always have great specials and closeouts at the front of the store. As others have noted, the location is great - an easy pitstop off 95 or on the way to the stadium - and the hours are less than ideal. This is a large operation and walk-in sales are only a small portion of their business. They have aisles and aisles of cases and 12-packs - a great selection. That goes for sodas, iced teas and other N/A beverages as well. The cashiers are terrible. I've probably been in 75 to 100 times and they (well, just the one guy at the first window) has overcharged me - not kidding - about 25 times. Same routine every time: Some item that's marked down on the floor is not discounted when he enters the name on his screen. Then he asks someone if the product is, in fact, on sale. Then he begrudgingly refunds me the money without an apology. Because beer distributors are usually miserable businesses, Bell still gets four stars despite this huge problem. Was in last week and the new tasting bar looks great if you happen to be there when they have a tasting, unfortunately that is only 3 hours a week.
