I saw Dr. Podila yesterday because I'm still having some pain/discomfort. Without doing much in the way of a physical exam, he said the problem was that I weigh too much. I said I've been hospitalized for anorexia so it's very difficult to hear that from a doctor (I've never heard it from another doctor). He maintained I needed to lose weight to feel better. I told him I would starve myself. He said "for the first 20 pounds, then you can eat." I left and cried for 45 minutes. My husband talked with Dr. Podila on the phone later in the day. He tried to get Podila to understand the gravity of what he'd done. The conversation ended with Podila suggesting we find another GI doc. I saw my internist today. He thumped on my abdomen and heard a hollow sound. I heard it too, as did my husband. He said being distended was the problem, not being fat, and set about devising a treatment plan.

I saw dr Podilla several times and I really like him as a doctor. He did an upper gi and since I was so scared he was gentle and let me be out under for the gi. After the gi he referred me to a specialist dr for a surgery that would help me. I need a device implanted and only certain specialist can do the surgery. Another time I saw dr Podilla I was extremely sick and he got me in and tried to help asap. The flaw I have with this office however, would be his office staff. The front desk ladies are not very professional and do not have very good "hospital mannerisms" which is sad. The ladies are very short with patients and not very helpful.
