So, I stumbled across this place and was curious to check it out. I was so excited that Gothenburg had a dedicated dumpling bar. I am a huge dumpling fan in all forms, everything from potstickers to 小龍包 so I obviously had high expectations.
The decor was pretty cool. Contemporary Asian. Clean and simple. You order at the counter and they deliver the dumplings to your table.
My partner and I ordered several different types. We were so excited about it. It's pretty expensive for dumplings. I am usually used to the prices in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and even in the US but we were willing to look past it and just get our hands on freshly made dumplings. So, moment of truth... Wait for it...
SHOCKING!
I opened it up and I was like what the...? Where the hell are the dumplings? Oh... These tiny things? I had a million thoughts racing through my mind at how poor the quality and standard of these dumplings were to me. I wanted to laugh and cry at the same time but somehow could only muster a whimper. That they could sell such appalling dumplings in bright daylight to the wonderful citizens of Gothenburg is such a mystery to me. These people should be arrested for degrading and being so disrespectful to the dumpling and selling them at extraordinary prices. I cannot even begin to describe what's wrong with them. Thick, undercooked dough. Fillings (if any) that are bland and probably blended so much that there is no discernible difference in texture to baby purée. They are also so tiny that you could eat 40 of them and still be hungry. That's if you could somehow work around the taste and the feeling of being robbed high and low. Ugh, I'm too disappointed to write any more.
We left the place totally traumatized and distraught from the experience. I will certainly never go back there. They are a huge insult to the people of Gothenburg. Oh, and we left the place hungry and went somewhere else for dinner. read more
