I am glad to be trying new cuisines to be able to bring these to all and this place is a real gem. THE MOOD: In Finchley and easy location to travel to. Authentic interior with a large bread clay oven at the front where all the fresh nans are made. A busy environment but easy to talk and make conversation so no loud music and good acoustics. THE FOOD: We had the following dishes: Kash Bademjan - Egg plant dip and although I am not a fan usually but as this was all mashed up and mixed with other ingredients it goes well with the nan as well as the sauces that come along with this. Big enough starter to share. Nan - This comes along as standard as far as I can tell and worth ordering anyway as you will need to see the size of this but 1 will be enough for 2-4 of you to share. This is made fresh in clay oven and as I say this is a must. Chello Koubideh - Lamb kofte style with rice and you get two long kofte style pieces. Nice dish and I dont think you will finish this so be prepared for take away. Morassah Polo - I am told this is the the King of all Persian dishes and comes with the Persian Jewelled Rice. The rice is amazingly fragrant and comes with a splash of colours and tastes of sweetness that complements the chicken perfectly. The chicken itself is coated with a tomato coating and chicken is moist and falls off the bone, it was just perfect. You also get a curry sauce that compliments entire dish. I actually cant wait to go back here and again lots of food so again be ready for a take away. Tadig - This is the golden crunchy bottom rice layer, the crowning glory of all Persian rice dishes! To me this is better known as the burnt bottom of the rice, in Persian cuisine, it is much sought after! This was served with some great soft succulent meat pieces served with an amazing sauce with beans and some fries. A sharing dish again and worth trying but then maybe hold off on a starter. THE VERDICT: A good place to come and actually I ordered too much but even with enough food for three maybe four the price is reasonable and food is tasty and great atmosphere with friendly staff. I've had a couple of meals here and they've been good. however, the boyfriend has not been impressed at all, so that splits the opinion a bit. Service is good though. Be mindful if you do want a lager with your dinner you can't as they don't serve alcohol. The last time we went there were loads of people there, so it can't be that bad. Although it seemed a bit hectic. I'll go back again, maybe with the girls the next time! read more

What an amazing experience we had today. Everything was so delicious. The food came reasonably fast and we were amazed by how much food you get compared to other restaurants for the same price. That hot fresh bread from the oven was so yummy. The service was very good, servers were very polite. Overall we are so happy with our first experience at this restaurant today. There is some very nice food here and the portions are quite generous. The grill platters are really good. However, I have tried a few "duds" and thus the only 4 out of 5 stars. The service is efficient and don't bother you. The atmosphere if very cosy. Also, they have a large vegetarian selection which is nice. read more

I eat out a lot and I have just received the worst service I have ever experienced in my life.. It started off with ME having to ask for menus.. Then when ordering 3 of the same items from the menu the waiter somehow managed to get confused and then started huffing and puffing rolling his eyes etc. upon paying the bill the waiter took the bill back to add bread which was never ordered or brought to the table he then argued with the bread maker that this was brought to the table. I then spoke to a manager explained the situation and said I would prefer not to pay service charge to then be told that we have no choice but to pay.. Definitely won't be going back! I really liked this restaurant, I have been going past it for years thinking that I really must stop in and give it a go and finally did on Sunday lunchtime. It certainly looks the part inside with moulded plaques and paintings showing Persian scenes adorning the rustic looking walls. The food was really nice, tender juicy marinaded pieces of chicken served with a tremendous saffron rice that is really piled on the plate. They certainly ensure you don't go hungry. The Khoresht Bademjan an aubergine and lamb dish was delicious and melted in the mouth. I also am at a loss to understand the negative comments surrounding the service and waiting staff in the other reviews on qype. I thought the various waiters were both friendly and efficient. Obviously being an Iranian restaurant it is dry but we embraced this and went with the Iranian tea (with a couple of lumps of sugar) which was delicious. The desserts as well were a revelation, very sweet but very satisfying. Noodles in a kind of rose water and lemon sorbet with homemade saffron and pistachio ice cream. Carrot juice and saffron ice cream and the special Iranian sweets which were like gulab jamun only sweeter if you can believe that. Very very sickly. All in all a great meal and a bit of a different experience to the norm. I left the restaurant feeling as if I had been somewhere exotic. A lot of people obviously feel the same as the place was packed. Three main courses, three desserts, a bottle of water and two pots of tea for £50 including service charge may have something to do with it, what a bargain. read more

I was not impressed with the service. The food was good, but they had none of the hot starters. They should have told us when giving us the menu that some dishes were missing rather than letting us look at it and then having to change our order once they came to take it. The waiters were not charming just put the food on the table and ignored us for the rest of the time. They were to busy talking to each other to notice we were trying to get their attention this is not good in a restaurant which charges a service charge. It is a shame the waiters were so poor because the food we did get was nice. Better service require and if half the things on the menu are not available please tell the customer when you hand out the menu! read more

I've been in this restaurant recently...I can say that the food is very good, the environment is amazing and the waiters are all polite and happy! Good service and good prices...just try to believe it! I recommend it... I love Persian food! read more
