Really fair prices, too, and pretty darn good bang for your buck in terms of quality. Highly recommend - if you don't mind occasionally long lines and a bit of a crowd, this neat little market is perfect.

On a Saturday morning, I found parking without much trouble and checkout was reasonable too. They have a huge selection of Rancho Gordo beans, the local yogurt and milk brands (Clover, Strauss) I prefer, many varieties of produce, good quality bread, and some bulk goods. The variety of the produce beats most if not all stores I've been to in the area and the quality and freshness was great too. The only reason I give them 4 and not 5 stars is they do have some items on the more expensive side and that are less than ideal especially if you get them out of season. For example, I paid almost $9 for a few peaches and they were pretty bad. But as long as you pay attention to what you are buying and buy what looks and smells good, you should be good. As a bonus, they source from a few of my favorite Bay Area farms including the one my CSA is from. Huge mushrooom selection- they seem priced higher than some Asian stores and sometimes farmer's markets but the selection is very good. My one thing is they definitely seem to go for volume and breadth of selection so it seems like that means selling non peak produce that is out of season in some cases. Overall, I'm a fan and this will probably be a somewhat regular trip for me.

The store routinely stocks thousands of distinct items. The layout features explicitly separated conventional and massive organic produce sections. From multiple varieties of seasonal apples to hard-to-find global specialties like fresh lime leaves, banana leaves, or specialized roots, its variety beats traditional retailers. The self-service bulk rows are massive. So many herbs, spices, loose grains, teas by the pound (such as loose chai and Yerba), dehydrated soups, and specialized nuts. The counter has an amazing selection premium seafood, fresh poultry, house-packaged meats, and an extensive cheese wall. There is also a robust hot food bar featuring quick bites like pizza, sandwiches, and sushi. The alcohol section should not be slept on. It has a vast local selection, and you'll find some selection you can't find in other places. Pretty much the best market place in the bay area. The amount of different items you can find here is astounding and whenever we are in Berkeley we have to go.

There is an excellent mix of produce, real food, treats (including ice cream), and take home items that you can very easily get lunch, dessert, and grocery shopping all done in one stop. The parking situation is a bit close to impossible which would really be the only con, but the neighborhood is super walkable so once you find a spot, take a stroll and earn the ham and cheese croissant I'll promise you you'll want to try! Great service, friendly vendors, this one sits atop my list!

As you head out from the BART station walk along Adeline in the opposite direction of Berkeley Bowl in the direction of Flacos. Keep walking for a bit & you will see them on the right hand side of Adeline. Lots of organic produce here. Some of it maybe a bit costly yet fresh as you can imagine as the blueberries I picked up were picked the morning that I bought them. I like that it is compact, lots of variety, & w/ heaps of organics. I do a lot of my own cooking as I frequently make smoothies for breakfast along w/ stews w/ whole grains for lunch along w/ dinner. I have recently gotten into making different customized trail mixes. I picked up some blueberries, raspberries, cantaloupe, squash, & almonds. Other items that I saw that looked interesting that I didn't pick up were avocados & sprouts. Look forward to returning here again soon!

Feeling so spoiled with 3 farmer's markets per week in Berkeley!…read more My partner and I explored the Saturday market recently and were very impressed by the size of the market, the variety of vendors, and the quality of the product. Everything smelled amazing. In fact, we could smell the fresh basil one vendor was selling from across the street! We were pleased to see that the market also accepts SNAP/EBT; we haven't seen many markets that do that! We strolled through and popped into each stand. The produce is simply incredible The colors are so vibrant! See attached picture for reference. We purchased 2 small bottles of apple cider and a berry scone from 2 separate vendors. The cider was refreshing and tasty, and the scone was incredible! The scone was large, pillowy, and had pockets of fresh baked berries. Very good. In conclusion: this is a great farmers market! I'm excited to explore the other markets in Berkeley. Check this one out next weekend!
