I was no longer the music geek, I was another one of the music geeks that was good enough to get into Berklee. This school is excellent for connecting with other musicians. I found that majoring in the more technical majors is more helpful for finding a job later on after graduation. I would not suggest majoring in music performance unless it is a double major. The school does not help you necessarily become better at your craft, it gives you the opportunities to become better. I have seen people graduate that now work at Starbucks, urban outfitters, and various retail stores on the area. I have also seen dropouts win Grammys and be in apple commercials a few short years after dropping out. You can take the opportunities that this environment gives you and take it wherever you want. I currently have a YouTube channel (Jasmin Silva Universe) which I produce and edit videos with my music and my friends music as backing tracks. I studied mp&e at Berklee before dropping out. You are considered an alumni if you complete 1 semester at this institution. This is mainly because most of the people that are now famous never graduated, the main one is John mayor whom I have heard skipped class all the time and was not the best student during his 2 semesters, because rumor has it that while he skipped classes he was writing his first album with his dorm mates. You also have the luxury of being able to go back to Berklee at almost anytime to take more classes. I know someone who tours with a major artist as a conga player and has been in and out of Berklee for nearly a decade. He simply leaves when there is a tour. Also artists like Wyclef who are already established take classes at Berklee which can be an interesting experience. If you can get in, GO and don't take any of it for granted. If you work your butt off you can go anywhere with the connections you will make here. But only if you make the most of it.

Larry is the BEST of the BEST…read more My husband started vocal lessons with Larry about 9 months ago. He's been singing his entire life, with a lot of classical training from music programs in Louisiana. He wanted to fine tune and push his limits a bit. What ended up happening was he fell back in love with music. I had the honor of seeing my husband become an entirely new person. He has newfound confidence, you can hear the improvement in every single performance, and he's trying completely new songs and musical styles that he never would've touched before. And let me tell you, Larry is such a great support and cheerleader. Easily my husband's second biggest fan (you know, right behind me.) If you're ever interested in learning- just know that this is the place to go. Whether you're brand new to singing or you've been doing it for 20 years... Larry is going to help you achieve things you never thought possible.

If you want to learn how sing, do yourself a favor and call Larry. I'm not kidding you…read more I'm 23, I am a vocalist in a gigging band, and I've looked everywhere for the real deal. Well, folks, this is it and it doesn't get any more authentic than what Larry is teaching. I've wasted countless hours and money on all sorts of programs and instructors who didn't have what I needed in order to learn. I found myself doing hours of "Do Re Mi" and not really knowing why, or if my form was good, or how to transfer the technicalities of singing into the creative aspect of music. None of those other 'Instructors' were letting me in on the secrets. You can't sit and learn a scale for vocals like you can on a guitar. Singing has something no other instrument has... your personality. Just ask yourself. Do you want to learn how to sing? Do you want to perfect your tone and brilliance? Do you want to be a better musician? If you said Yes to any of these, call Larry Keith.

I would not hesitate to recommend Dan to anyone looking to learn guitar, bass, drums, piano, or music theory - he is a beast at all of these instruments and has a wealth of knowledge and resources on all of these subjects. Our lessons were equally directed by both my interests and his recommended path for beginners - we spent time learning pop songs, jazz standards, beginner classical pieces, approaches to improvisation and songwriting, and doing deep dives into the underlying theory of all of the above. I'm an adult learner with a full-time job - I feel like Dan always struck a good balance between understanding that I have other time commitments, while still pushing and encouraging me to get into a healthy practice routine, and recommending exercises to do even when I only have a few minutes a day to spend at the piano. His studio is fully equipped and would be awesome to visit if you can do in-person, but his set-up for virtual lessons is fully decked out as well, with multiple cameras, virtual "piano roll" view, and great a/v quality. All in all Dan is a great guy and a great teacher - very knowledgeable and well-versed in many instruments and genres, but more importantly very approachable and good to work with. I'm a better, more confidant musician after taking lessons with Dan!

Dan is a very friendly and flexible music teacher with an enormous amount of musical knowledge!…read more I took piano lessons with Dan for about six months. I had no prior experience to piano, but he was a great teacher. I mentioned that I was interested in jazz, contemporary classical, and some pop songs, and he was able to teach each genre to me. He also shared a lot of music books via PDF which was great so I didn't have to purchase additional materials At least during the time I took lessons, Dan had a system where you paid for four weekly lessons at a time. If I was unable to make my time during the week for whatever reason, he offered other times he was available so I could make up my lesson The only reason I stopped taking lessons was because other commitments in my life were overtaking my free time, but I truly enjoyed having Dan as my teacher and having the opportunity to finally learn piano. Thank you!
