You'll find the honey in most supermarkets throughout Australia. And you know what they say - it's best to find it at its source.
The Beechworth Honey Experience is a store and museum/gallery-esque space set up in Beechworth's busy shopping strip. Here one can peruse through all manner of everything bee and honey related.
Towards the back is a bee enclosure - a hive with viewing opportunities to see the animals at work, as well as microscope viewers to see their parts up super close. These creatures are at once intimidating and intriguing as they go about their business without a thought about their onlookers.
One third of the space is a dedicated library to bees and bee keeping, complete with kits on DIY suburban beekeeping and thick volumes on the insects place in the world's foodchain.
And of course - HONEY!!! A tasting table with disposable dipping sticks is to one side, set yourself free and try every single one until you come across one you couldn't possibly be without. Then it's simply a meeter of matching the jar to the larger ones along on wall and you can walk out with your little piece of magic. I recommend the Maluca Honey, known for its healing properties, but more importantly its amazing taste. read more
