For starters, my timing musta' been pretty perfect. As I walked in they had just finished setting up for a tequila & mescal tasting. Apparently, in honor of tequila week, they'd been doing these all week long. The vendors were great, no big, flashy, and not very unique distilleries represented here. There were four tasting stations (9 tequilas + 3 mescals) and picking a favorite was quite difficult. The blancos were devilishly smooth and the anejos would be perfect in an old fashioned or manhattan. Fortunately for all, they have FOUR big shelves to select from! The people were great too... They know the local beer, wine, liquor scene and were happy to give recommendations. I'll definitely be back!

When invited to parties, dinners, or barbecues, we never go empty- handed. I try to match whatever beverage we're taking to the type of event it is. That's where the service excels. In fact quite a few breweries I guess go about their beer recipes differently than the PNW or the mountain states. Some people say it's the mountain water that adds to and is critical to a well made craft beer. So being in a different region and state that isn't in these areas I kind of was at times just a bit underwhelmed with some of the breweries we went to. They weren't necessarily bad but it wasn't what I was accustomed to I suppose. But there were a few breweries that were highly impressive and Southern Heights Brewery was one if them. Steve got a really good dark beer but I got an IPA that was really amazing. It was the Evergreen Terrace IPA. This was so good and very highly refreshing. Some IPA'S taste wise kind if blur together as far how memorable the drinking experience winds up being but this one was quite impressive and the rollout of the flavor profile was just great. Flavor highlights with this beer are piney, fruity, hoppy and a very appropriate amount of bitterness. It's also light bodied so the feel of this beer isn't likely to feel like a weight in your stomach which you definitely don't want if you come across a hot Texas day.

It's in a scenic part of Austin, amongst the hills and close to Lake Travis. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, and my favorite was the live music stage set up on top of the bed of a vintage truck outside. For this brewery Steven and I tried one of their beers. We wanted a lighter beer and on the refreshing side since it was a warmer day we were encountering so we got the Dye-It Pils. As the name is a abbreviated in the beer it is a pilsner in beer type and hit the spot nicely. Flavors to enjoy with this beer are a hint of breadiness, crisp, a hint of sour and a clean finish. The beer is light bodied which is perfect for hot weather and bright in color. The taproom for Infamous is cool... it is located in a garage or shed. At least that's the impression I got with the taproom. It was a great place to kick back and relax.
