(I don't know why it says San Fransisco.... I am in Ottawa area)…read more I had hired a contractor named "RON" to complete by basement (referred to me by a colleague). Drywall, ceiling and electrical. Dean from Kare Electric of Carlton Place was hired to do the electrical work THROUGH RON but in essence he never actually conducted the work. The contractor hired his own guy to run the wiring. Dean showed up at the end to assure me that all had been wired accurately! Pot Lights; light fixtures; wall plugs etc. He left all the pot lights hanging from the ceiling advising that he would leave it like that to allow me to paint the ceiling. But assured me everything would pass. Not realizing grave incompetence to come, I paid Dean. I paid him. He left. I had a generator installed a couple days later only to be told that none of the copper wiring on the pot lights had been grounded or installed appropriately to code. The copper wiring had been cut flush to the sheath of the wire. None of the holes were cut large enough to fit the lights either. I was told this would never pass the inspection and was a hazard. I could not continue with the generator inspection until this was to code! I contacted Dean who said he would take it up with the Boss and asked ME TO FIX IT AND CALL HIM WHEN DONE. I called RON THE CONTRACTOR who advised Dean would return asap to fix it but indicated it was OK as the lights were plastic!! ?? NO ONE EVER DID COME BACK! NO ONE EVER CALLED BACK. WHY DOES NO ONE EVER COME BACK ONCE PAID? Even more importantly, HOW COULD DEAN SAY EVERYTHING PASSED WHEN NOTHING WAS GROUNDED. He had not even looked! COST ME 500.00 to get another electrician to come in a finish the work on 14 pot lights. Pathetic and Sad. Though Dean was pleasant and perhaps fell prey to Ron as well, he should have come back to fix the problem as he was indeed the electrician I hired. He was the one I paid who even though had not run the wiring, told me all was fine. WOW .... WHAT A LESSON LEARNED. But with integrity lacking in telling me all was fine when he had not even inspected anything ....I am not surprised no one returned and would not recommend Dean of Kare Electric of Carlton Place. All he had to do was take a couple hours out of his time and return to complete the job safely and to code.
