I have read so many negative reviews on multiple sites, while looking for a patio upgrade. I rolled the dice and chose Becks and honestly couldn't be happier. I held off on a review because I wanted to give plenty of time for the "newness" to wear off and make sure I didn't have any issues with the stone or retaining walls. Warning to all Beck's Maintenance Customers...they list Rescue Woodworks as a Partner on their website. Rescue Woodworks is owned by the owner of Beck's Maintence's brother John. Do not do business with Rescue Woodworks...they took our money 3 months ago promising to complete our project by July 3rd which still isn't done. John makes big promises that he doesnt deliver on and quality is average at best. BECK'S Maintenance should not be promoting such a company. read more

We ordered a mix of top soil and mushroom soil for our garden as will as stone for landscaping. The soil they delivered was absolute crap. Since when is quality top soil and mushroom soil a light tan color about the color of clay or sand???? The rock was full of dirt and we felt very "short" as far as we were concerned. I thought about calling and complaining until I read the reviews here and it seems that is not likely to make us happy either. Furthermore they talked absolute crap about their competition even lying about what Tussey charges for deliver. Since I had talk to Tussey I knew they were lying and should have walked then.... no more business here!!!! read more

I used Beck's Maintenance and Garden Center for nine years for mulch. I never had a problem. This year the mulch I received was the wrong quantity. Beck's admitted that it could have happened that day due to high delivery volume. They were hard to get a hold of and make the things right. I stopped in and the owner, Joe, was very rude and abrasive. He would not credit back my delivery fee or refund my money. Instead they gave me an in store credit. Why would I use a company again where the owner treats customers that way? read more

I live in the Washington DC Metropolitan area and called Beck's to clean the leaves from my mom's yard in Hollidaysburg. I spoke to Mrs. Beck and mentioned that last year we had 4 men working in the yard for around 2 hours. So, I thought we would only need help for 2 hours and we figured out a price. I also mentioned that we were not in a hurry and to please not go to my mom's house if it were snowing or raining (as I knew this would hinder the removal). She said that she could send the men out tomorrow at noon. I asked her if it was going to rain or snow and she said no. The next morning her team of 6, not the 4 agreed upon, arrived at 9 a.m. and not at noon as agreed upon and stayed until 6 p.m.as it was snowing and raining all day and they were having trouble removing the leaves and their truck kept breaking down. I had no idea this was happening as I am not local. When, I called her the next day and asked why they stayed so long she said it is because they do the job until it is completed. I was paying by the hour and by the person and did not agree to this time span and 6 men. My brother also texted me picture the next day of the enormous piles of leaves that they didn't remove because their truck was broken. I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone. My experience at Beck's began as a positive one. There are very few places that have spiral trees in the area. I purchased 3 along with 2 scoops of 2B rocks. However, weeks before purchasing the trees I saw the price tag of 103 on each tree. When I purchased (over 500 dollars) I was charged 116 per tree. I figured this was a mistake they made ringing me up and nicely called and explained what happened. The woman was clearly being advised by someone else on what to say and proceeded to tell me that 103 was the "wholesale cost" of each tree and that they just "forgot to take that off." Not true. When I went back for the refund the owner was the straw that broke the camel's back. He was such a condescending hot head when speaking to me. I told him the story and that I was there to get a refund, and he proceeded to lie to me about the "cost." I very politely said that I do not appreciate being lied to as a consumer and that I know there's no way they only make 13 a tree. He said "look here honey, I'm the owner and I know what my mark up is" and I told him not to refer to me as honey and that he had very poor customer service. He then said that I "copped the attitude first" When I told him I wouldn't be back he said he didn't care. It was just crazy the mental abuse I experienced being a customer at this place of business. We made a raised vegetable garden and needed soil delivered to fill it. The woman we spoke to couldn't answer several of our questions and wouldn't even try to ask someone else for the answers. They just left us hanging and asked for us to call back another time. After several tries we finally spoke to a woman, gave her the exact dimensions of the garden and she GUARANTEED that 3 scoops would be "more than enough". One of the brothers of the business brought our soil out and was very rude. He dumped the soil half in the garden and half in the yard when he could have easily dumped it all in the garden. When we called back in to complain about how the guaranteed amount didn't fill the garden as we were told it would and wanted to order more soil but didn't feel it was fair to pay a whole new delivery fee as they already guaranteed the specified amount would be more than enough, he belittled us, used profanity, and would not honor their delivery price as before or give us any respect at all. Very rude, very unreliable and messy. I will definitely not be doing business with them again and would recommend to steer clear of them. read more
