This small rest area is named in honor of James and Maxine Beckett, likely for their contributions to the local community. While it was the rest area that attracted us, there is more going on here including little league and t-ball fields, picnic shelters, a playground and a concession stand that is open when there are events here.
The caption sign highlights the karst geology of Monroe County, a nod to the region's unique limestone landscape. It was a pleasant rest after driving and exploring West Virginia.
While there were no signs prohibiting longer stays, I would imagine this isn't a great spot for an overnight.
