A very historical and well-kept cemetery. There are some notables, although most are local people…read more Arguably, the most famous are the two Adlai Stevensons (one was a U.S. Vice President), Dorothy Gage (the one that inspired Dorothy on "The Wizard of Oz" and Old Hoss Radbourne. There are at least ten markers that highlight the cemetery's famous spots. One is a war memorial, dedicated to Sgt. Joshua Rodgers, who was killed in Afghanistan in 2017 while serving his country. A part of the cemetery is named for him. A plane crash memorial is also present, in which an actual plane crashed into a tree at the cemetery. Abraham Lincoln literally once stood at Evergreen Cemetery during the funeral of his friend, Ward Hill Lamon's first wife, who is buried here. Three tree carving sculptures are found here (as of 2020): the plane crash memorial, the Dorothy statue and one of Old Hoss Radbourne.

My mother passed away in January of 2024. The next day I visited the cemetery to pay fees, which…read moreincluded a $300+ charge for a tiny "2024" brass plate for the grave marker. More than two years later that plate has never been installed, despite numerous reassurances from the cemetery staff that it would be done "next week". They do not answer phone calls or return messages. The office door is locked and no one comes to the door despite the presence of a red car outside. I wonder how they would feel if the grave of their mother was treated with so little regard? Seems next step is to file a fraud complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office and the Illinois Cemetery Association since out of state owner is unresponsive as well.

PARK HILL CEMETERY BLOOMINGTON IL…read more Yesterday , I placed , on my mom and dad's grave, a beautiful floral fresh flowered wreath along with two bouquets for each side of the monument. My flowers were not obtrusive or in , or on the grass . The flowers that I placed were not cheap, and rather pricey. . I went back today and my beautiful flowers were gone. The flowers for my parents had been there LESS than 24 hours. There was nobody in the cemetery at the time I placed these fresh flowers on my parents grave , ONLY , myself and a employee mowing near by . . I did share my concerns with an authority at PARK HILL, they declined any knowledge , nor did they take any responsibility as to what happened to my flowers. Naturally, It crossed my mind that a possibility , could be they had been stolen by someone who could not afford flowers for their loved-ones . However , On my way out , I noticed a dumpster. I took a chance and looked inside, and , low and behold , there in the dumpster was my fresh flowered bouquets. How did they get there and why were they pitched? For what reason? Has anybody else had any problems at the cemetery with missing flowers? My advice is to check the dumpster. B.B.
