I assumed I could follow the regular return policy, but found out you cannot return a holiday item after the holiday. This needs to be highlighted or reviewed with the customer when they are purchasing a holiday item. Who has time around the holidays to go online to find a specific return policy and then find the time to make the return if it didn't seem urgent?

I feel fortunate to have our Ace Hardware store so close by in our town. The guys at the store are…read moreall so willing to help find exactly what you came for. They all know where to find anything. If they can, they walk with you to find what you need. Now, that to me is good service! I have even had them help carry paint to my car. They are a larger store than it appears outside, but not too large to give you that special hometown feel service. Some items may be a bit higher, but for the convenience, and to save on gas, I will say their prices are fair. They have greenhouses outside that I have purchased beautiful flowers from. They have an extremely large paint department where you can find any supplies you might need. They carry Benjamin Moore paint and will tint it with spot on accuracy. Craig, one of the owners, is a locksmith. Long before key fobs, I had to use his services. It was after hours, but he was there quickly. He charged a reasonable price, and worked quickly. The truck is painted nicely with the Ace logo, his shirt also id'd him as an Ace representative which I consider very professional. I have nothing but nice things to say about this store that I have utilized since I moved to Thurmont in the 80's. It has only gotten better!

Anything you may need for a pet, home repair, herd of livestock, or construction project can probably be found at Franklin at a lower price than any of the big box stores in the area. They also sell small animals that were bred and acquired humane ways instead of coming through animal mills. (Huzzah for ethical means!)

While Franklin doesn't always have quite the wide spread of generic items (i.e. non-hardware things like AC units), their selection of tools is often wider and more varied; most certainly, the tools and supplies that are available are generally higher quality than what you will find in the big box stores. This hardware store has become my first stop, because the quality is better and the prices are just as good, if not better than the chains.
