I'm giving you fair warning now...
2 days before my wedding, this nail salon RUINED my nails. I had an appointment elsewhere, but because we were running out of time, we decided to all get quick mani/pedi's together, using the Shellac polish on the hands. No big deal, right?!? WRONG!!!! First off, we were all getting the same thing done but yet my sister ended up with some strange heating mitts on at some point and her pedicure took 20 minutes longest than ours. We started at the same time. The guy who did mine DID NOT listen when I told him that I did not want my toe nails cut, only filed. He started to cut and I had to snatch my foot back. Plus he had his shirt only buttoned in one spot and I had no desire to see his bird chest while he worked on my hands and feet (can you say, unprofessional??!?!?) the pedicure we received were sub par, a 5 year old could have painted my toenails better. What really went wrong was the manicures. I live in California and get a manicure with Shellac every 2 weeks. I know the process. We all had what I can only describe as "club hand" effect. The Shellac was soooo thick that my nails looked gross, I kept having to get this "nail tech", and I use that term loosely, to re file my nail so it was not crooked. It was so jacked up that I could see my actual nail in spots, polish in others (I chose a neutral shade). After mentioning this he said, "this is how your nail look." And I told him, no, I do not have humped nails, nor do my sisters. Then he tried to sell me on the fact that this is what it's suposed to look like with Shellac(generic brand btw), to which I replied, no, I have had this done every 2 weeks for 6 months now and NO this is NOT how Shellac is suposed to look. After this went on and on, we just wanted out of there, and tried to just pay for a regular mani/pedi and not the extra for shellac bc we were all going home to re-do them ourselves. They said no, we had to pay for it all, and they could re-do them if wew were not happy..... Hmmm, why would we want for someone who couldn't get it right the first time to re-do our nails?!?!? They couldn't understand this. They were so bad or skin was GLUED TO THE NAILS with the Shellac. The guy clipped one of my cuticles so close, I bled. My fiancé went with us to get a manicure so his hand would look nice for the photos and the girl put SHINY clear polish on him. I had to tell her, he is a boy (he's too nice to say anything) and she tried to buff them instead of just taking the polish off, weirdo... I was so put out and upset that I just wanted to Shellac off. Which I could have done myself(SHOULD HAVE DONE MYSELF) with foil strips, alcohol and cotton. So since I was paying, I was going to make them take the crap off, and he used a drill, yes a DRILL used for fake nails, on my beautiful natural nails. I tried to tell him this is not how to get the Shellac off and he said this is better...and I should have said, kiss my a$$. Against my better judgement, I didn't and he wore my nails down so thin that I had to cut them off down to the skin, 2 days before my wedding. I had taken such nice care of my hands for months to make sure they would look good for my big day. They ended up paper thin and ruined. My fingers were and still are, so sensitive. A month later and you cab visibly see a ridge from where it is growing out, and btw, they are still so thin I have to keep them trimmed to the quick. My manicurist here had a fit when she saw my hands once I got back to Cali. But even more than all of this, these a-holes had the nerve to tell us that they would call the police if we didn't pay, even after we offered to pay for just the basics, no shellac. I could go on and on about the entire fiasco that followed but that's not important. What is important is that, I understand that there are not too many options in Talladega, but PLEASE take your hard earned money elsewhere. If they don't care about doing things the right way, there is no telling what else is being done wrong in that place!!! Terrible job, terrible customer service, terrible experience over all.
