There are several Tan Stands in Edinburgh and the one on South Clerk Street is very popular with the University students. Sun beds are available as well as an impressive range of spray and fake tans available. The tans are all very reasonably priced, with just 5 minutes on the sun bed costing around £2 and spray tans are available at £15. Because trained therapists spray you, there is absolutely no chance of you getting the awful streaks and patches which so frequently occur with fake tans. The staff are very friendly, inviting and knowledge about the various tanning options available to the customers. There is also a beauty salon attached to The Tan Stand which offers a range of therapies such as manicures, eyebrow shaping and waxing, which is also extremely well priced - about £5-8. There is no need to make an appointment and I frequently walked in and been served immediately. It would be difficult to find a cheaper tanning and beauty salon in Edinburgh.

But unfortunately for me I was 'blessed' with skin that makes Snow White look tanned and so before a dress-wearing occasion I have been known to get a little help. The salon was very clean when my friend and I walked in, and it smelled really nice although it was absolutely BOILING. It was as if they were trying to kid your brain into thinking that you were in fact on holiday, so that'd you'd tan faster. All it did was make me irritated and grumpy. That lost this place it's first star. The second I took off because of the staff. When we walked in there were two girls behind the counter and another girl draped over the counter chatting to them. They stopped taling abruptly when we walked in, but all three of them stared us up and down disapprovingly, without even trying to be subtle, before looking at eachother with a puzzled expression on their faces. In short, if you're a radioactive ahde of neon rom using sunbeds too much, get yourself to this place and you'll fit right. If not, you'll be gawped at like a circus freak.

Disgusting toilet but big mirrors in a semi-open plan part where you can redo your make up instead of having to do it in the crap lighting you get in most tanning boots. Located on the rough patch of Edinburgh city centre, otherwise known as Lothian Road, is is quite central only being five minutes walk from the Grassmarket.

I was able to book a massage appointment online, half an hour neck, shoulder and back massage. I paid when checking out and after the massage was finished. The online booking system is so simple and you can book any of the treatments they offer. Besides massage, they also do nails, waxing and toes etc. I had Zoe as my masseuse. She really tried to loosen up my neck. The treatment room was very relaxing. Lots of plants everywhere, even in the waiting room, on the walls and ceilings. I listened to soothing music whilst being treated. They also offer 6 treatments for the price of 5. Will I be back? Yes definitely!

I came in to get some lip balm due to suffering from chapped lips, I was able to find what I was looking for, and the staff seemed friendly with fast service at the checkouts, and help to find the product I was looking for. (Impressive as the checkout area was only small, given the size of the store and the fact there are no self-service checkouts) As a small store, the selection is limited but is decently stocked given their size. Due to the size of the store, the facilities are limited compared to what one would expect from Boots, and offers the bare minimum, while also shutting earlier than other nearby locations, at 6 pm. 3* - OK, good location but much better pharmacies nearby from Boots and rival brands.
