My hair looks like my hair again!…read more I have wavy, curly hair with some really curly sections and some really straight. It's kind of big and wild but that's how I like it. Usually my hair is really easy to deal with and looks great - jump out of the shower, scrunch in product and bounce. Lately though, I have not been happy with how it looked. It was unclear if my top section was just getting extra curly and turning into a pompom on top of my head or if the style I had just wasn't right. I had started seeing a new stylist who was trying to convince me to grow out all of my layers and after a few months I was starting to get the dreaded triangle head! Ugh! So I decided it was time to try a DevaCut. I wasn't sure if it was just a marketing gimic but I figured I had nothing to lose so I looked up the salons in the area that offer this type of cut and stumbled upon Salon deChelle. I called them up and explained that I have curly/wavy hair that was in need of a serious re-shaping and did they have any stylists who specialize in curly hair. The receptionist was very helpful and assured me that their DevaCurl certified stylist, Abby, was great with problematic curls. She explained what the appointment would consist of and how to prepare my hair for the appointment. Three days later I came in for my appointment. Abby seemed to know exactly what I was talking about with the issues I was having with my hair and I felt very comfortable leaving my hair in her hands (I love my hair and I've definitely had stylists who I suspected were feigning confidence in knowing how to deal with my hair and ended up giving me hair cuts not appropriate for my hair type whatsoever). With just about every snip of my hair I could see it looking better and better - even all poofed out from Abby's fingers running through it as she cut the layers. Once my hair was washed and product was placed Abby gave me some styling tips, diffused my hair (which I usually dislike but she left it wet enough that the usual frizz did not materialize), cleaned up a few pieces that weren't framing my face right and sent me on my way. I knew immediately that it was a great hair cut and just what I had needed! I'm so glad to have found Salon deChelle and Abby!!! My hair finally looks like I want it to, again! Thank you, Abby!!!

Originally I booked an appointment at one of the high-end salons because I assumed that all color appointments would be painfully expensive. As my appointment crept up and the pandemic began to twist the country, I knew I needed to hold on to as much cash as possible- I needed to look for another option, I reached out to as many Yelp salons that would give me a low estimate. Enter Kendra Joy. Kendra got back to me within minutes of my inquiry. If you haven't yet, view her stunning work on Instagram. Because of my dynamic schedule that bounced with every turn of the pandemic, Kendra was flexible with giving me an online consultation via Instagram DM (direct message). I sent her my hair aspirations, my current hair situation and she gave me a VERY reasonable quote. I went in for my appointment feeling unwell and she still worked with me. Though the facility wasn't the most exquisite, the service surpassed my expectations. Kendra is down to earth and real and will give you a classic hairstylist conversation, which I have not received at any other upscale salon. My hair turned out great and she gave me the most stunning and HEALTHY blonde color for the best price I could've asked for. If you're not convinced to go to Kendra for your next appointment I don't know what you're doing, she rocks!!

I have been a regular at Namaste Salon for the past ... five? six? ... years? However, my stylist…read morethrough all those years recently decided to move to another salon in the area to shorten her commute. While I will follow her to the new salon, if I have any problems there or anything changes such that I need a new stylist I will not hesitate to come back to Namaste. I have to commend them in particular for their handling of COVID precautions throughout the pandemic. I was particularly nervous about whether it was worth the risk to get my hair done when things first started opening back up after the lockdown last spring, but decided to give it a try after talking through all of the precautions they were taking with my stylist. They were limiting the number of clients/stylists/other staff in the salon, requiring masks, doing temperature checks and waivers before you came into the salon, and asking everyone to wash their hands upon first entering the salon. I could see that they had implemented new disinfection procedures for common-use items (pens, bowls/brushes for color, maybe combs and such? There were stacks of bins with these materials by the sink ...) and were disinfecting chairs in between clients. My stylist's normal station was the one closest to the door, but she moved me to one of the upstairs stations so I wouldn't be in the high traffic area while my color was processing (generally at least 1.5 if not 2 hours). They kept up these precautions all the way through my last appointment at the end of March. I'm sure things will be getting back to normal, now that people are getting vaccinated and the state and county are easing public health restrictions, but I appreciated their commitment to doing things right -- not just the COVID precautions, but doing right by their clients, as well. Although I had already received a text from my stylist letting me know that she was moving, the salon did call me to let me know. They offered to rebook me with another stylist if I preferred, but no pressure. I know that this can be a cutthroat business -- at a previous salon I found out about my stylist pursuing other career opportunities when I showed up for an appointment and found they had "done me the favor" of rebooking me with the stylist that they just hired -- so I appreciate the way Namaste handled this. Having said all of that, I will leave you with a parking tip -- schedule your appointments for the evenings or Saturdays so you can easily park in the courthouse parking lot, which is just a block away (but from the end of May to early October make sure to schedule around the Saturday morning Farmers' Market).
