We needed to board our mini golden doodle and found Oak Harbor Pet Haven online. The office/store was very clean, and they sold Dr. Gary's Best Breed dog food, our food of choice. I was apprehensive at first, since our dog is a rescue and very timid. Samantha and Brooke were very reassuring and even though our little doggo missed us, I'm sure she had a safe, good time. Thanks OHPH for being available when we needed you!

Called a few days in and they said he was doing great. Came back to them saying he was sick most of the time and so incredibly sickly that we had to take him to an emergency vet. She gave us antibiotics and pain meds due to an open wound on his testicle from the cleaning solution they use to clean the kennels. Took over a week for him to be able to sit down without yelping. We spoke to Rodney and Rachel about it and they were quick to get us in and out and be done with it. They wrote us a check for the $130 vet visit, only to have the check BOUNCE AND HAVE MY BANK CHARGE ME A FEE. Absolutely ridiculous. How embarrasing for them. Now we don't feel safe leaving our babe and will bever be back.

The best thing I've ever done as a dog owner is invest in this training program. We have two pups,…read moreone a lab rescue, Amelia (3yo) and a rott mix rescue, Emmett (2 to). Our lab rescue was easy to train ourselves, but when we rescued the second pup we struggled with obedience. Quickly, the new pup taught the other some bad habits and we had lost most of the control in our home. This is a moment where you can try to insist you know what to do and can handle the responsibility you took on by yourself, or you can wise up and admit that you aren't a professional dog trainer and ask for help. We chose the latter. We have busy lifestyles, three kids going on four. Lots of activities and a social lifestyle. We chose the two week board and train for our rott mix, Emmett. It was a major investment and one I wish we had made sooner. It has changed our lives. This isn't to say we didn't have work to do, because you learn quickly that training is an everyday process for the rest of your dog's life. The difference is that Emmett now has a strong foundation and we were empowered with the skills to work with them and reinforce good behavior. Meal times are no longer spent worrying about if the dogs are counter surfing, instead they are laying calmly in their place in another room. Meal times are regulated and calm. They no longer run us over trying to rush outside in the morning. They get to enjoy being dogs and trust us as their owners. I am forever grateful for Mark, Rodney and Mika as their trainers. If you're struggling over the price, I promise you the quality of life you will get in return will be worth every single penny. We have loved the group train classes and I'm actually sitting outside waiting for Saturday's class as I write this. When I walked in I thought the trainers would judge me for not having control. Instead they are truly committed to helping you. Their support through the process has been a god send and if they see you or your dog struggling, they jump to step in and support you. It has been truly one of the best, encouraging and supportive programs and far exceeded any expectations we could have had coming into it. 10/10 recommend.

I had a great place that I had been taking him since he was a puppy and they were very good at grooming. At Bark Avenue I was given an estimate of $60-$70, it would be the higher price if they would need two persons to get his hair cut. First of all the shop is more inclined for big dogs and they have them walking around the shop and barking playing. Well my Yorkie was kept in a crate before and after appointment because he needed a vaccine that was required and I told them he was afraid of big dogs. When I arrived to pick him up the groomer said he was very good and was charged $70.00. When I got home I checked the cut and his paw hair was left with long hair, his sanitary areas were also left long, I asked for teddy bear face cut and summer cut and I was disappointed. This place is good for big dogs.

We live in Point Place an have been regulars when it came to vet care at Shoreland . NO MORE, they no longer have the Vet Surgeon Dr Brown and his wife Dr Riker booth super excellent Vets. Now they have a Corporation of pencil pushers running their company from a distance that are clueless when it actually comes to the business of pet care. Its a shame, i think Dr. Thornton DVM would be very sad to see the practice he began afew years ago in the situation its in now. Shoreland, office staff are great an Docs ok too the place at Shoreland lost out when a corporation bought them out. It really made a difference and caused me to realize its just not the place for my fur kids. So I went to a vet that is in charge of his office and is Awesome with his patients, Dr Mason. I kept that Pt. Place Shoreland vet because its near to my home in case of Emergence, Why if its "by appointment only" (as advertised) whats the point? Shoreland has a great vet Dr Starkey full time and the other vets travel to other locations as needed. It does not allow for a good relationship B/T vet and Patient. We are going to Dr. Mason at His hospital located on Lewis Ave Now. I very happy and the pups recognize Dr Mason and feel at ease with Him and office staff, a big difference. I also noticed Eric wrote a post about his dog becoming paralyzed. I had a Puggle she experienced loss of use of back legs. Its not any vet, unfortunately it happens. Blame games are for the small minded. My Puggle Holly did recover with Dr.Shawn Browns formerly a Shorland vet owner, he was able to help Holly using infrared treatments and as a Massage Therapist I decided to do light traction. We had nothing to loose. Holly got worse than the next day got so much better an a week later she walked across the room and returned to good health. We also Prayed over her as the Healer is up over your head, just ask for help. Not all dogs recover and I am pleased to see here that the Docs in Farmington could help. Three days later his hind legs were paralyzed and a real vet sent me up to an amazing hospital in Farmington for emergency surgery. I wish I could sue this place. And the super aggressive blonde tech is a real piece of work as well. In this instance you CAN judge a book by it's cover. if you care about your pets, I would drive on by.
