I had to get my Iphone fixed at the Ipod Repair Centre, which is next door to Loan Star. It didn't look too sketchy from the front as I walked by, so I decided to just stop in. The sign outside said "Edmontons' Favorite Pawnshop", and it didn't take me long to figure out why!! the store was very well laid out, with sections for tools, guitars, electronics, and what looked like 1000 dvds' and bluray movies. Everything in this place was clean and well displayed. I was greeted as I walked in, but then left alone for a few minutes as I gawked at the 30+ guitars they had well placed on the wall. Then i had a conversation with one of the owners, who seemed to know as much about the guitars as the manufacturers did. He told me I was more than welcome to grab a guitar off the wall and plug it into one the many amps they had plugged in and give it a go!! Well, in the end I didn't end up buying a guitar, but did walk out with a surprise gift for my wife. I hope she likes the diamond earrings I got her for $200.00. They even came with an appraisal from the same guy I get all her jewellery appraised from. The owner said they get about 50 or 60 pairs made up every year due to the demand for them. I'm still not a big fan of pawnshops, but I am now a HUGE fan of Loan Star!!! These guys know their business, that's for sure!!

They…read morewill take most items of value - provided it can be tested etc. Like most pawnshops though they will lowball you and act like you should be grateful. The place is clean, the merchandise available is reasonably priced and the staff aren't complete dicks. NOTE: if you are selling to them you need 2 pieces of ID (drivers and a bankcard works) and a loonie to cover some weird filing fee they have. Also if at all possible, don't deal with the chick. She is smarter than the guys and plays hardball in her sleep i'm sure of it.

Absolutely worst business of my lifetime I've ever been to for customer service.
