This is the dirtiest nastiest crack house style motel I have ever seen. Boom this room and you will regret it between the dried commit in the room heater to the dead bugs in the room and the chemical air fresheners trying to cover the smell of the 30yo beds my wife wouldn't even sleep in the sheets let alone shower here. Then had to fight for 4 days to get refund of the room fees for cancelling early from the stay cause it was so disgusting don't let the fraudulent reviews fool you this place is gross! read more

This was a great little motel for a quick stay. We needed an overnight place to stay on our way to Yellowstone from The Badlands and this motel was perfect. It was very clean and well kept. It had fresh sheets and towels, the bathroom was good. 10/10 in my book!!!! read more

Pretty good for a small town. Usually everything is out of whack or there's something really not right. This place is clean, somewhat updated (beautiful tiled showers). Friendly staff and good location close to local food. read more

The office staff were very friendly. Explained where to eat, laundry facilities, and smoking policy that was what chairs outside each room were for. Family run and well cared for. The room was spotless and the bathroom looked recently refurbished but of out 14 day trip this was one of the lowest and tiniest toilets we encountered. I'm 6'4" tall and not built for little people facilities. Not sure if all rooms are identical. It was warm enough that we used the air conditioner all night. Worked just fine. Beds were clean and critter-free (first thing I check for in a room). It was clear the mattresses were a bit old but they worked for us and with the cleanliness I felt comfortable. The wifi was easy to check in to and quite fast. There were also "Bike Rags" on a bench outside the office to clean your car or motorcycle. What a great idea. The only that that would have been nice was if they had a simple continental breakfast. We spent a Friday night and discovered just one restaurant served breakfast on Saturday..... the one we had eaten dinner at the night before. I like to try different places so we drove on our way and stopped at a place just south of Devils Tower that was great. read more

We were stopping by this town to see where my brother grew up (before I was born). We thought there was breakfast served (based on the booking site) but the only thing they had was packaged oatmeal so we skipped it. The room smelled a little funky and there was construction happening that was disruptive. On the bright side, the young man working there was pleasant. read more

Cute clean place. No shampoo but I also didn't ask. Nice family run place. The owners were hanging out in the front desk building. They even had a friendly cat to greet you. If I remember right, they were also pet friendly. read more

I think this hotel is mighty fine! Clean rooms and friendly service. Has a microwave and a fridge! Which is much more than the super 8s we've been staying in. Much cheaper too. Only $60 for the night. read more

I'll keep it short. The T.V. had cable, but every channel was blanketed by static and the audio was crackling. The beds are atrocious. My wife and I got a 2 bed room, so I could sleep in one and she could sleep with our very young child in the other - I had to sleep in their bed because mine had an enormous sink hole in the middle of it. The room was grungy and I say STAY AWAY, you'd get a better sleep on a floor somewhere. read more

This was my second stay at Bear Lodge. The motel is an older building but what isn't in Sundance, Wy? The rooms are very clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. The lodge recently remodeled the rooms with new bathroom fixtures and tile. AT 7:00 am the breakfast in the lobby is open. The selection was great. I would recommend this motel to anyone looking for place to stay during a long road trip. It became our base to used while checking out Devil's tower last year. My and my work assistant had reservations in Upton, Wyoming for the night of June 19th. The room was being paid for through our work contract but, after checking in to the room, we noticed a huge problem right away. THE BEDS WERE BROKEN. When I confronted the manager about that she said they were all like that. I immediately called over to the Bear Lodge Motel in Sundance because we had stayed here several times before. The manager not only had a room available, but he recognized who I was and looked forward to seeing us. I may have had to pay for this room out of my own pocket but the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable and the owner is always so hospitable. I look forward to coming to Sundance for many reasons and one of them is the Bear Lodge Motel. read more

I look at several travel app sites and glad I did! This place was great I just wish there was more to do in the area so we could stay here. The price is extremely fair. Yes it is an older motel but let me tell you the rooms are large, new heating/cooling unit, carpeting, beds, pillows, TV and Internet. There was a fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in room. But the best part is this has been owned and operated by the same family for over 20 years and just spending the small amount of time with them you feel as if you have known them for a long time. Some extra things I saw that they do for their guests is have rags and a hose out so bikers and cars a like can clean their vehicles. Don't let the age fool you and pass this by for the bigger chains in the area. read more

Cute little place...nothing frilly but simple and has everything you need. Has on-site laundry if you need to use it. Is also on the main drag of Sundance and directly across the street from all kinds of little local bars and cafes for breakfast (they don't serve breakfast at the motel) and a Subway. Friendly family service. Stayed here during the winter so the rates were pretty low; not sure what they are during the busy season. Would recommend this place and would stay here again! read more

We decided to stay here on our way to Montana. If you are looking for a well cared for, classic motel, with a great staff ,that treats you like family, then this is your place. We liked it so much we are back again on our return trip. Soon we will be enjoying the breakfast provided with the room. I am giving this place 5 stars because as far as 2-star motels go, this place is tops! The rooms are clean, everything works, and the location can't be beat. The breakfast is typical, pre-made sandwiches to heat up, plus wrapped muffins, and fruit. If you want more, there is a great cheap breakfast place right across the street. My wife and I recently stayed here on our trip from Pennsylvania to Yellowstone. We were somewhat nervous about what awaited us as we drove outside the motel, but once we entered their parking area and entry the lobby, our concerns quickly went away. Hey - let's face it - people staying here are not looking for the Ritz, we're looking for something affordable, but we still want a clean, odor-free, safe place to stay. This hotel fits the bill - it's at a great price, yet everything you need for a night along an I-90 roadtrip. The rooms are clean, efficient, and the customer service was good. The breakfast was an added surprise - LOTS of choices. Everyone in the family found the breakfast great - milk, juice, cereal, granola bars, muffins, etc (and even breakfast sandwiches to zap in the microwave!). If you're staying in Sundance we also recommend the Longhorn Saloon and Grill just a block away for a great dinner! read more

I chose this hotel because it has such good reviews, and was pretty cheap. I can't for the life of me figure out how people give it 5 stars. I will NEVER stay here again. But you might, if you like the following: *No view from any room, just the courtyard/parking lot/other side of the motel. *No peephole on the door. Surprise! *Anyone* could be out there! *No sprinklers in the room in case of fire. *Your phone won't charge overnight because the plug in is so old that the plug falls out while you are sleeping. *Broken AC unit that stinks up the room. With a melted, black, burnt prong plug in. Which the manager is aware of, but doesn't fix (he pointed it out to my husband!). Don't forget--there's no sprinklers in the room, either! *No screen on the window, so you can't even put a fan in the window to cool off. (It was cooler outside than it was in the room with the AC on full blast.) I guess at least you could use the screenless window in place of the peep hole, but then again, any random stranger could just leap right into your room in that case. * At night, the 2 exits from the top floor are both on one side of the building (they lock the one that goes through the office). So, again, in case of fire, you are S.O.L. I wonder what the fire code is in Wyoming, anyway?? * The toilet only flushes half of what you put into it at a time, so your roommate gets to see how well you digest lettuce leaves. *The breakfast doesn't even have hard boiled eggs and fruit for anyone needing to eat gluten free. We've never been so glad to check out of a place, and couldn't get out fast enough. When we checked out, we saw another poor couple who apparently didn't have a working AC either. They had the door wide open with a box fan sucking air into their room. The man was still asleep on the bed and the woman was trying to do her hair/makeup. read more
