Most memorable among them was when I visited her during a worrisome miracle pregnancy. Miracle because I wanted a child but didn't cycle regularly... worrisome because the conception and therefore due date could not be determined. My midwife was panicking, and pushing me to be induced, encouraging anything, "even accupuncture" to start labor. (That's not how things work, Michelle.) Anyway, Brandy's care at that time was very soothing, calming and reassuring. Amid an oasis of fear, she gave me peace. I left there feeling like my baby was okay, I was okay, and everything would be fine. Nothing was amiss with my meridians. Nothing was really wrong at all, except my freaking-out midwife. I did end up getting induced because my midwife said she'd quit, otherwise. I didn't know anybody else, was new to the area, and didn't think at the time to just FIRE her butt and find another care provider. And do you know what? Turns out Brandy was right. The baby had been just fine. The attending physician at the birth observed at her initial evaluation - spoken loudly and slowly so that my midwife could understand, I suppose - that our baby could have stayed in the womb another two weeks or so.

I have to say I had never been to a "voodoo man" prior to meeting with Steve. I had been laid out on my back for close to 3 weeks, taking Ibuprofen & other pain killers that weren't taking away the pain. I had even go so far as to have an MRI scan of my back & neck. I close friend of mine Caren McShane referred me to Steve, "when I get allergies or a cold or if I feel a nerve is pinched, I see Steve". For me I knew something wasn't right. Though I was skeptical, I trusted my friend so I scheduled an appointment. She told me she wasn't sure if he was taking on new patients without a referral. Steve told me I should see a chiropractor first then come see him immediately after. Apparently what Steve could do for me with massage and small specialized pressure-point relief with small fine needles what a chiropractic adjustment couldn't. So I made the appointments back-to-back. When I first arrived I was pretty much carried in my Caren and she had to lay me on his waiting room floor. Once I was in one of his comfortable rooms, he spent a good 15 minutes helping me understand all the training and specialized medicine and specialized pressure-point techniques he's learned during his years of studying Acupuncture. I told him I was very apprehensive and he was very quick to put my mind to ease. Needless to say I was able to walk out of his office after my first visit.
