BEWARE OF THEIR PRESSURE TACTICS AND LIES! My husband and I were looking for an apartment to move into because we were selling our home. We looked at many complexes and we liked the look of Encore at Beacon Place, despite the fact that they are overpriced. When we stopped there to look at an apartment they told us they only had two 2-bedrooms available. We felt pressured because they claimed their units rent fast. Unfortunately we fell for the tactic and signed a lease ahead of time, even though we would not be moving into for three weeks. A short time later my husband was asked to change locations from Robins AFB to Tinker AFB. My husband is retired military but has continued to serve his country as a Department of Defense employee. When we approached Encore at Beacon Place they informed us that we would have to pay $5100 to break the lease that hadn't started yet, for an apartment we hadn't stepped foot inside of. Unfortunately they are within their legal right to require us to pay this, and we will. My issue is, they lied to us telling us they only had two apartments available, telling us they rent out quickly, etc. what I want you to take away from this is, DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM when they tell you it's "limited" because all they care about is getting those apartments rented. It may or may not be true, just be VERY CAUTIOUS. Also, civilian DOD employees can ask for a clause to be put in their lease, it's not guaranteed that they will agree to that, but if they won't then WALK AWAY! read more
