We originally booked this property through VRBO in January 2026 for a stay from December 24-27, 2026. This was not simply a vacation reservation. We specifically chose and booked this property nearly a year in advance so that four generations of our family could be together under one roof and wake up together on Christmas morning.
In July 2026, the original owner had to sell the property. After the sale, the original owner and the new owner worked with us to have our reservation re-booked, and we believed everything had been properly resolved.
Then, on September 1, 2026, we unexpectedly received an email from VRBO stating that our reservation had been canceled. We received no advance warning, explanation, or communication from the property's new management before the cancellation.
We made repeated attempts to contact Paula, the property manager and owner of ZenVibez Vacation Properties, through phone calls, text messages, and emails. After receiving little to no meaningful communication, we eventually contacted the property's previous owner. He answered immediately and was genuinely shocked to learn that our reservation had been canceled.
The previous owner reached out to Paula on our behalf, and only then did we receive a response. The initial explanation was that she had not canceled anything and needed to check with her team.
Over the following days, we repeatedly had to request updates. Eventually, we were told that the owner wanted to block the dates because a vendor would be completing work on the property.
However, VRBO customer support gave us a different explanation and told us that the reservation had been canceled because of a double booking.
As a result, we were left with two completely different explanations for why a reservation we had held since January was suddenly canceled. Our stay was scheduled for December 24-27, including Christmas Day, and the lack of communication surrounding the cancellation made an already difficult situation significantly worse.
What was most disappointing was not simply the cancellation itself, but how we had to repeatedly pursue answers and ultimately involve the property's previous owner just to receive meaningful communication about what had happened.
This cancellation has potentially disrupted plans that were made specifically to bring four generations of our family together under one roof for Christmas morning. Finding another property large enough and suitable for that type of family gathering during the Christmas holiday is not something that can easily be replaced.
Because we did not stay at the property, I cannot comment on the property's condition or amenities. I can only speak to our experience with the reservation and property management process, and unfortunately, that experience left us extremely disappointed and concerned about the lack of communication and the conflicting explanations we received.
