Before jumping into the classes, they set you up for success with 1 on 1 training for a few weeks teaching you the basic fundamentals of CrossFit. Can't really say enough good things about this gym. I finally decided to make the switch from my big box gym after feeling bored and unchallenged. Joining BSCF made me a CrossFit believer. Beachside CrossFit is a great place. If your new to the the CrossFit world they'll teach you the fundamentals of movements to ensure you're using the proper technique and form before you begin the group classes. ‍ Each class is very well structured and aimed to give you an intense and challenging workout. **HIGHLY RECOMMEND!** I did a drop in at the 12pm class today with Mee Lee and I am honestly a little bitter I don't live in Ventura to actually be a member of this gym. The whole place was set up so nice and everything was so clean given it is a gym. I loved seeing everyone's monthly achievements and how you reward people with tokens on their continuous attendance. Mee was so sweet and welcoming and such a good coach! I love how she took the time to come around and make sure everyone had weight on their bars that would fit them for the workout that we were doing. Beachside Crossfit has been my favorite CrossFit gym in Ventura. 1. Community - this gym goes out of its way to make everyone feel welcome, regardless of ability. There are always events going on outside the gym, and its clear this gym understands that people work out better when they know each other. 2. Knowledge - Nathan and his team of coaches are extraordinary in their knowledge and expertise. All the coaches are encouraging, and seem to get more excited about a good workout than you. Classes are usually about 10 people, and the coaches are able to give everyone one-on-one attention throughout the workouts. It's a skill that I think can't be taught. 3. Equipment - all the equipment is new and is constantly being updated. 4. Cleanliness - This has been the cleanest CrossFit box I've been in. Nathan cleans the box daily, and you know laying on the floor doing sit-ups won't ruin your brand new white shirt. I'd recommend this gym to anyone, from a novice to a regional athlete. read more

As someone who has done Crossfit at several other places, Beachside has been unmatched by all. Nathan Doud helped motivate me to new levels and expanded my knowledge in not just strict Crossfit methodology, but dieting, different weight lifting progressions, and Olympic lifting techniques. This review has been a long time coming. Beachside is an amazing place. Simply put, if there is any part of you that is considering joining a gym or any fitness organization and you don't at least stop by Beachside to feel out the atmosphere, you are doing yourself a disservice. The people are amazing, the training will kick your butt, and the coaches are always full of energy and give everyone the attention and direction needed. There are people from all walks of life in this gym and every one is more welcoming than the next. Some are people just starting out, some are just going as part of a routine to stay fit, and some should be playing in the NFL somewhere making millions of dollars they are in such good shape. I was drawn in out of need to get in shape for a large city's Fire Academy. Years sitting in an ambulance had left me inflexible and weak in all the wrong places and when I walked into Beachside, Nathan put me at ease that he could turn that around. In less than ten months Beachside had me healthy, flexible, strong, and pushing weight around with guys much larger than myself. Beachside CrossFit is the third CrossFit gym in Ventura county that I join and by far the best gym that I've come across. First of all, Nathan Doud, the owner and coach is extremely knowledgeable and experienced in crossfit, Olympic lifting and nutrition. He pushes his athletes to be the best they can be, and he does it in a matter that's encouraging and beneficial to the individual. I was recently in town for the holidays and I decided to drop in because a family member had nothing but praise for the coaches and the workout regimens they provide. I was only able to drop in for one class but I got to say I wish I could've attended more. Quality coaches with great instruction, along with well thought out regimens that provide a solid workout. Equipment is also up to date along with their logging app that make it THAT much better to enjoy the workout and track your progress. If I lived nearby, that'd be my gym for sure. 5 stars from every single person reviewing should be enough for your decision to be made but if not, here are 2 big things to consider-- Coaching- I was with Beachside for 3 years and was so bummed when my career moved me elsewhere. Why? Simply put, Nate and his small home grown hand selected group are the best. You can travel all across the country, as I have in the military, and go to any gym. One common theme? Sub par coaching and inconsistency. Nate's core skill is weightlifting. He's like a mad scientist. Everything is on point and if you're consistent with working with him, you'll get the rub of skills from him. My gains were beyond my goals. Not to mention he can walk the walk when it comes to both weightlifting and wods. And, he might be the only successful crossfit gym owner in the world that makes every session. Yes, every session. The only ones he missed was when he was vacationing with Beachside members, as I have done with him. This brings me to my next point Community- not only is Nate either at the gym or hanging with members, the beachside community reaches far and wide. My tax person? Beachside member. Legal expert? Beachside member. Realtor? Beachside member. Electrician, mechanic when needed? Beachside. But most importantly, best people I ever met are there. Several Friends I will have for life. Real Talk here.. i am a member of a crossfit gym out of town. My wife's family lives in the ventura area so a few months back i figured i would do a drop in on a box up in Ventura/Oxnard area.. I first called a box that i heard was pretty legit and had some awesome athletes.. I wont name any boxes, but when i called this particular box i really felt like i was being brushed off and did not feel welcome. I joined crossfit for the comraderie and the open armed community. Well, this particular box that i called prior to Beachside did not give me that feeling whatsoever.. So i hit up Nathan. I think i might have found him on facebook, but i can't really recall. What i do recall is calling him up, and him being super pumped for me to come in and join them for a workout. Of course the rest is history! everyone there is good people with good intentions, they are all very welcoming and i really cannot see how someone can write a bad review on this box. i have been to several crossfit gyms that are clique'ish and self absorbed, but truthfully speaking, this is not that box.. Beachside is extended family, i give them mad props wherever i go.. shoot! if there was 6 or 7 or 10 stars i would rate them the highest possible.. First off, I'm going to start by saying that I NEVER in a million years thought I would join a cross fit gym. I was always very intimidated by the weights and high intensity workouts. I gained a lot of weight during the pandemic. I'm 34 and was on the worst shape of my life. Beachside was recommended to me by a coworker and I can honestly say it has been LIFE-CHANGING. I feel better about myself, and stronger. I no longer feel like I'm going to injure myself while performing mundane tasks. I went from not being able to hang from a bar for more than 3 seconds (literally) to now being able to swing on one. I have more energy, I've lost some weight, and I can already see some toning/muscle definition after only a couple of months. I look forward to going to the classes, which by the way are super flexible as they are available mornings, afternoons, and evenings (a plus for those of us who work 9-5 jobs or have hectic schedules). The atmosphere is great. You get to meet people of all ages and backgrounds, and they are all super friendly and encouraging. In addition, all the coaches are FANTASTIC. Mee, Kai, Jess, Kristin, Darren...They all really help you with your form, and they motivate you. I struggle with self-motivation (hence why it's difficult for me to work out at home). I must say I joined this gym off a referral from a co-worker, not having any experience in crossfit myself. I was not totally unfamiliar with the movements practiced in crossfit, but I was blown away by how much technique I learned once I completed my elements. The main coach Nathan Doud is also the owner of beachside crossfit. That being said, the quality of each workout and the instruction given reflects the pride one would take in their "baby" (beachside crossfit). If you're looking for a luxurious and spacious crossfit gym maybe look elsewhere. I had the pleasure of working out at Beachside CrossFit for a couple of months in the summer of 2016. I had left my former gym in 2015 after new owners took over, and I had been without a gym and working out on my own for almost a year. Joining Beachside was by far the best decision I regret not making sooner. I came home from a deployment in April, determined to find a gym I genuinely fit in to. I visited 5 different gyms in the Ventura/Oxnard area but beachside won my heart and wallet over immediately haha. Boy i tell you, the owner and coaches have the BEST sense of family and community I've ever seen. We grind hard everyday, all week and they plan fun workouts and activities on weekends that allow us to connect with one another and grow exponentially. When I first discovered Nathan and BeachSide CrossFit, I had been training the CrossFit methodology for nearly a year and a half on my own. I thought I knew and understood everything there was to this strength and conditioning program, however, I was proven wrong. Nathan's level of knowledge and dedication as a coach knows no bounds, and I have made huge strides in my development as an athlete, as a person and as an upcoming trainer and coach. His programming, including both strength work and conditioning sessions, is spot-on and has never failed to impress me as being both challenging, yet doable, so long as you are willing to work had and push past whatever preconceived notions you had about your physical and mental limitations. With Nathan's guidance, my work capacity, strength, nutrition, body composition and overall health have improved greatly over the last year. If there is a place out there that will turn your life around 180 degrees and put you on the right path towards a better you and a better life through fitness and nutrition, this is the place. Lastly, BeachSide CrossFit is not only a great place to pursue new levels of fitness, it is also an amazing source of camaraderie and community.
