Hmmmmm I was pretty sure I had reviewed this place just after I visited.... Guess not.... Ok so I…read morelove the idea of the place and it has lots of potential. They sell burgers and wings etc and I love that you get kitchen roll on the table. They get 3 stars because I feel they need to work on their food a bit. When I sat down I got a doors and was given some complimentary popcorn. They have blue moon on draft as well as the doors and some other American beers in bottles. The menu is your typical American style restaurant, burgers, Philly cheese steaks, hot dogs, fries and chicken wings. I opted for the Philly cheese steak and some fries. This is where it goes wrong a bit, the bread was cheap cheap cheap, really fluffy and over dry and breaking up, I'd go so far as to say it may have been day old bread.... The steak was tough and overlooked but the flavour itself was quite nice. The chips were good and I was given a bit pit of Mayo. My waitress was a wee star, I just thought she was brilliant at her job and she gave brilliant customer service and she's the reason for 3 rather than 2 stars, I would have given 4 but I want to give them something to work towards, as the food must be as good as the customer service. I would return again but would have no hesitation sending back if I had the same bread issues again. They should really think of getting a local baker to produce their bread rather than buying bulk from the catering supplier.

The ribs, pulled pork, and brisket were excellent. One downside: someone needs to give them a better Cole slaw recipe. It is not good--nothing but cabbage and mayo. Add a little vinegar and pepper to make it bearable. Also the music might have been a little loud, but I am an old guy.

There are dining areas at either end at tables of various sizes. Although there were several people dining we still found a quiet and comfortable place to sit. The landlady and her daughter were very pleasant and the younger girl who was serving the meals at the tables was really delightful, so friendly and helpful. My only criticisms are that the landlady forgot to make my coffee (funny that's happened to me in two pubs within a week!) and there was only one vegetarian meal on the menu/specials board, despite a huge choice for the meat eaters. There is a small car park out the front and the toilets are clean and well looked after.

It's a large place, but it's still advisable to book - they have a good reputation now, and often it's difficult to get a table on a Saturday night. The menu offers a good range of food, with something for everyone. They offer good steaks, lamb shanks (lush!), chicken in a range of sauces etc, and there's always something tempting on their specials board. There's a nice atmosphere in the pub, and they don't hurry you away from your table, if you want to sit around and chat over a drink. Families of all ages are welcome as well.

The Ferry Inn - Dark Cherry & Marzipan Bake with Vanilla Ice Cream (Vegan with Dairy Free Vanilla Ice Cream) £7.50

    The Ferry Inn

The Ferry Inn is a very popular gastropub in an enviable position on the River Teifi. (The views…read moreare fantastic.) It has a cosy bar area, three inside eating areas with river views, two outside eating areas and a terrace to really enjoy the view. They are happy to accommodate diners with dogs (there are also dog-free areas) and it's very child-friendly (there's a children's menu, and some tables seat eight). The menu offers starters at £7.50-£7.95, mains around £18 (except fish and seafood at £24 and steak at £29), desserts at £7.50, as well as a choice of ice creams and sorbets (£3.50-£7.50). They offer a range of vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options. We chose Sea Bass served with Lemon Parsley Caper Butter, Herb Roasted New Potatoes, Garden Salad with Buckwheat & Broad Beans with Honey Mustard Sauce & New Leaf Microgreens (£24); and the one of the vegetarian options: Glamorgan Crumble a tower of Leeks, Carrot, Breadcrumbs & Mature Cheddar Cheese, Garlic & Herb Roasted New Potatoes, Glebelands Salad, Quinoa, Bean, Vegetable Salad & Fresh Herb White Sauce (£19.95). We followed this with Dark Cherry & Marzipan Bake Vanilla Ice Cream £7.50. Overall, the food was very good, except that the seabass was (disappointingly) over done and therefore falling apart. I always think it's a little odd serving a cold side salad on the side (or in my case underneath) a hot dish, although overall the flavours did work well together. The Glamorgan Crumble was very tasty. Service was a little manic: some staff seemed to run around all evening, and we were served by four different people during the evening. (One was very nice, two were a bit brusque.) They were busy, but we had booked (and were expecting) a table in the downstairs area with a river view, but were shown to a different part of the restaurant area. There were, however, a number of reserved tables which remained empty through the evening, so it seems like they had a few no-shows. Overall we had a nice evening: with two glasses of wine, the bill came to £75 for two, excluding service. It's firmly worth four stars, and of course you're paying for the location, but at these prices, getting the fish right and calmer service would land a five.

The lunch and evening menus have a good selection of food and i have never had a a dish i wouldn't recommend. The wine and sherry selection is outstanding. The deli means you can take many Spanish dishes home with you. I would also like to mention the lunchtime takeaway of panini and paella which are very good. It is a food and wine lovers place to go.

The service was personable and they were quick to bring drinks and dishes out. The food was top notch! My favorites were the basic salad, the olives, the patatas bravas, the salt cod (was amazing), and a few others that are now escaping my memory (I'm thinking we had a rabbit and a lamb and a bean dish... and a cheese/meat plate, and another salad) They will bring endless plates of excellent bread (and there is olive oil on the table). Basically, you can't go wrong here! We also got the house wine; a light and delicious Spanish wine, and very affordable. The only dish that I specifically remember our small group being lukewarm on was the octopus (was served chilled and was ok, but not amazing). After you eat (in the back), you can stop in the front of the store to buy more amazing meats, cheeses, olives, and wine to take with you! You may have a wait at times, as seating is fairly limited (we were there mid-afternoon on a Saturday in October, and had to wait only about 10 minutes to be seated). Also... I thought the price here was excellent for the quality and quantity of food. A real gem and must-do if you come through Aberystwyth!
