Quaint little mom & pop motel. Clean, friendly and you walk right to the beach. They provide chairs for you to grab and take to the beach. We would stay here again. Good for couples and families.

I can't give this 5 stars due to the fact that the place really needs updating. It deserves 5 stars for cleanliness but I still felt like I was in a 1970s trailer park. When I made the reservation I thought this was a hotel "on" the beach, not so. It's a building or two away from the beach along the road side. Short walk to the beach but no view at all. House keeping started knocking on the door next to us at 8:00am. The Windows and doors need to be replaced and updated for sound proofing. We heard everyone outside and above us. The tv speakers were blown. The bathroom was updated and spotless, but the beds were rickety and obvious older spring mattresses. The pillows and bedding smelled strongly of frebreez. All rooms face the pool. Simple, nothing fancy, motel, close to the beach and walking distance to sunset and shops.

What a nice gem on the beach! Upon arriving, the owner gave us a brief description of close in restaurants, grocery store, etc. She then took the time to show us our room. We absolutely loved the place! A real throw back to simpler times. I won't go into any more details as most have covered them in previous reviews. A short walk to the beach, a short walk to the pier. I would highly recommend this place! A big thank you to the owners for their outstanding service and attention. If we ever go back to FMB, we'll be staying here!

I thought long and hard about whether to review this as 4 or 5 stars...I finally decided on 5 stars for many reasons. While this isn't close to fancy or "sleek" or modern in design, it has something...several things actually that I think are better than modern and more deserving of 5 stars. First of all, it's just sweet! The hotel, the spot, the owner/manager...all just so sweet! I was greeted warmly by the most friendly woman I've ever met in Florida. We were welcomed and shown to our room. She gave us our wifi password...that and the flat screen tv are all the modern I care to have :-). We are steps from the most gorgeous, quiet part of the beach with a wide expanse of sand to sit quietly and not be overrun by neighbors. The pool is warm and clean clean clean!! Speaking of clean, the quaint yet size able room is probably the cleanest I've seen with updated and roomy shower and a nice mini but not too mini fridge (for my beach beer) this motel/hotel gets 5 stars from me because it reminds me of what vacations USED to look like...clean, friendly, helpful and just downright feeling like home away from home!

What can I say about this hidden gem in Fort Myers beach? My husband and I just returned from a wonderful weeks vacation spent at the Beach Shell Inn. First is the great location, steps away from the beautiful beach, walking distance to the Taco Stand, Breakfast cafe and souvenir store. A short bike ride to the famous Time Square! The pool is clean, inviting, relaxing. The owner is eager to point out areas of interest, brews fresh coffee every morning and stops to chat with the guests as she goes about her daily business. The rooms are clean, have a refrigerator and microwave. My husband and I would walk to breakfast in the AM and come back to our room tidied up with fresh towels and linen. There are beach chairs that you are free to use if you so desire. They have grills for use in case you want "burgers on the grill". A local food store is within walking distance. Again, a hidden gem. Looking forward too returning next year!!!

What I really wanted though was just to park early, and walk the short walk up to the beach.

Our week long vacation at the Pink Shell was an overwhelming success. It has been quite some time…read moresince I have stayed somewhere that truly values customer service and experience - Pink Shell exemplifies both. Every single employee we encountered acknowledged us, went out of their way to smile, and for those providing us service were kind, friendly and attentive (minus one - hostess at Rae's needs some guidance). I honestly was blown away by it - so refreshing in a world where this is no longer common. We did a kayaking tour with Ranger Rob and he is EXCELLENT! We saw dolphins and manatees in addition to a bunch of shore birds. It was tough paddling back against the current and across the channel but all in all it was a wonderful experience. Overall Pros: - Rooms all have an ocean view. We stayed in the Captiva building and had a huge screened in patio with two lounge chairs and a dining table with four chairs. - Rooms were spacious with a nicely appointed kitchenette, full fridge, living room and bedroom televisions, and large bathroom. - Rooms and resort were very clean, well maintained, and comfortable. - Pools and beach were very clean and spacious (there are three pools, one specific for adults 17+). - Daily breakfast was delicious! Omelette and eggs made to order, and an abundance of offerings in the hot stations (potatoes, eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, oatmeal, and fun waffles that my kids loved), as well as toast and pastries, cereal, fresh fruit, yogurt and more. - They give you a bag when you check in that was excellent to have for bringing things down to the pool / beach such as sunscreen, water, etc... - They also gave the kids a shell bag each and sunglasses. - We arrived on Valentine's Day and they handed me a beautiful pink rose that I put in a glass air water and it opened so beautifully and lasted the whole week in our room. - Bongos was good and convenient for lunch. Rae's food was delicious - so having two restaurants was a great perk. - Walk to downtown was about 0.75 miles and a nice way to walk off dinner. We used the free tram a few times too. Just a couple cons: - People save pool chairs regardless of the large signs that say not to. The signs also say that staff will remove towels that "don't have activity" but I never once saw that done. It was frustrating to come down to no chairs available for all three of us together or in any area near the pool / sun. You can reserve chairs at $50/pair online but that seemed like not a great use of money even with the frustration. I wish the resort would hold true to not allowing saved spots. - Breakfast can be loud. Not sure there is much to be done about it but the beeping of the omelet station didn't help with the already crowded room. - Coffee was just not great. I tried - the only way it was so so was to get it iced and add some chocolate milk. It seemed watery and just not a great taste. - The service at the pool was spotty - some days it seemed like there was a regular waitstaff walking around and others it was hard to find someone. The resort could make a lot more money in drinks and food by staffing the pools better. - The dryer in the shared laundry in Captiva (floor 7) was the worst dryer I've ever used. It took from 5pm to beyond 1am to wash and dry three loads of laundry. We hated to leave and look forward to going back.

They were so respectful of the guests and kept our tables immaculately cleared. Access to the island by boat was a surprise and thoroughly enjoyable. Plus, the captain and boat crew were focused on ensuring patrons had a positive experience by slowing for bird and dolphin sightings and their willingness to take family pictures. In addition, our room was incredible with three balconies and two amazing views. The gym was also nice; all the machines were clean and working, plus it was well equipped. For such a fancy hotel, I was quite surprised there was nowhere to find water. I expected a fruity water station somewhere near the entry, a standard in high-end hotels today. I was also surprised the concierge could not provide a running map. Even with the local construction, the path right out the front door is nice and separated from traffic. I found the run to Target (for a cool coffee drink) was perfect for a 5-miler. Surely the 10-mile option would include even more treats. Having the front doors opened every time anyone approached the front of the hotel was a nice touch.

****WARNING**** PLEASE READ BEFORE BOOKING THIS HOTEL - MARCH 2022…read more I've never been so disgusted and displeased with the state of a hotel room in my life. Especially in the era of the pandemic where every single business/service is toting an extra level of cleanliness and sanitation. It's like the Wyndham Garden Inn Fort Myers Beach chose to do the opposite. I've stayed in old, "cheap", no frills hotel rooms all my life and I can handle old with minimal amenities. I can't handle dirt and stains and filth and bugs in a hotel room I am paying close to $500 per night for. There were stains on every single piece of upholstery in the hotel room. Black dirt/dust along all the baseboards and light switches. Black dirt/dust on and in the AC unit. Bugs crawling around the window sills that were covered in dirt and dust. Dust covering every hard surface. I don't understand why they didn't bother to wipe them down? Some pieces of furniture looked like a dog chewed on it for a few hours. The noise from the live band that played nightly until 9 or 10 PM could have been tolerated but the uncleanliness of the room ruined that for me too. Honestly, maybe they hoped the band would be so loud and obnoxious that you wouldn't want to spend time in the room and by the time you returned back after the band and drunk bar goers left you'd be too tired to notice, or complain. I spent about 15 minutes in the room before I decided it was uninhabitable and went to the front desk to let them know I would not be staying there. The front desk said he couldn't do anything about it, I would still be charged (almost $500 per night, remember?) and that the manager would call me on Monday to sort it out. It's now Wednesday at 5PM and no phone call or email. I've even called the hotel once to follow-up. I was once again brushed off. Save yourself the trouble and hassle that I have gotten roped into. I read reviews before booking but admittedly did not read them super closely. The overall review score seems OK but something has happened recently. Something has changed and changed for the worse and most recent reviews are negative. I'm not sure what has gone wrong. New management, not enough staff???? Whatever it is, something needs to change. I hardly ever post negative reviews like this (check my profile) but the state of this hotel room was atrocious and I want others to be aware before you spend your hard earned money on a place like this. Do not give this hotel your business until they make REAL changes and actually make an effort to reach out and resolve the issues of their guests. At almost $500 per night, they should be able to afford to hire cleaning staff and room keepers. I've waited almost 6 days before posting this review to give the manager/Wyndham Garden Inn Fort Myers Beach a chance to reach out to me and make this right and they haven't.

We walked with our beach stuff out of our room probably 10 feet before our feet first touched sand. Then it's probably 100 yards to the water (the beach is very wide there). The Pinchers Restaurant, more like a beach tiki bar with great food and drinks, was our fun, regular hangout every day we were there. Live music on the weekends. Wave runners are available for rent on the beach. The hotel rooms are nothing to brag about (probably a 3-star hotel room at any other location) but we were there to go to the beach, not to stay in the room. We were very pleased with everything about our stay.

Caper Beach Club  Unit C311…read more Dear Owners of C311, Your condo is spacious, comfortable, clean, functional, and lovely.  We regret staying at The Caper Beach Club 3/22-3/29/25.  According to Diana (front desk employee) my family and I are, 'bad customers'. We're bad customers because our 5 & 6 year old boys were playing basketball with a floating toy we brought from home. See picture. Diana told us that the toy violated a pool rule, but suggested our children and their new friends should play with that toy on the small grass area next to the standing water and service street. (By the way, it's gross to walk around standing water to enter/exit the pool area.) Here are the pool rules that are most challenging for families: -No inflatables -No flotations -No ball playing Seriously, at a pool?? What if your kid can't swim? Who wrote and approved these? The same people who collect 20% of all rental income for the building? Yep, those grumpy anti-kid patrol curmudgeons who complain to the front desk. They're unliked by the rest of the property owners, and obviously us renters who selected this location because it seemed like a good place for families. On 3/27 the whole building was displaced due to no electricity and no water. Unbelievable. They hung these notes on our doors. We understand that sometimes unfortunate things can occur. When we asked Diana about compensation, or discounted options for us to have lunch, etc. they told us they were not responsible and would doing anything for renters.  Diana told us we could use the pool during that time- BUT the condo owners we met at the pool told us the pool's electric filtration system will not work and to stay out of the pool. (The same outage situation occurred a just before our arrival.) Thanks to the folks at Pink Shell for giving my family a discounted rate for a day pass. We appreciate the Fort Myers Beach hospitality.  We support Fort Myers Beach. We were excited to visit again after a couple of missed years. Our favorite places are Bay to Beach, Salty Sam's Pirate Cruise, Nervous Nellie's, Junkaroo on the Beach and so many more.  We'll be back to Fort Myers Beach, but will not stay at Caper Beach Club again.
