That $5K ring from Zale's is actually worth about $600 in the open market which goes by the value of the metal and stones, not the name brand. My review is from a buyers perspective but I've seen several deals made with people of realistic expectations. $100 loan on a quality firearm; realistic. $100 loan on a five-year old laptop with a worn-out battery; not so much. There is also the possibility of finding something unique that you probably wouldn't see in the mall or Wal-Mart. I think I'll stop by later this afternoon; I'm looking for a new bass rod.

I have brought numerous pieces in to have them fixed or worked on. In all those years, I never had an issue...until 2 weeks ago. I dropped off a 3rd generation pendant to be fixed because the jump ring broke. Mind you, I had previously brought the same pendant into the store just to have it reinforced so it can be passed down to my daughter. The man with a hat and beard took the pendant and I went over my concerns. He said since it was so meaningful, they would take off the jump ring (which he insisted is hollow, it's not and I know that for a fact), replace it with a new "perfectly circle" bail and give me the original one. I told him DO NOT CLEAN. He wrote it on the white copy but folded it over. Apparently the jeweler didn't unfold the white copy and they cleaned 3 generations of patina. This pendant is all I have of my father and my Great Uncle. My husband picked it up once it was done. As soon as he gave it to me, I cried. The jump ring was never replaced, it was soldered back together. My pendant looks nothing like it did when I brought it in. There was soldering in places that had no business being touched. And again, it was cleaned. They told my husband they want to "make it right." I brought the pendant in last weekend and was promised a call from the owner. That was Saturday. This is Thursday. I used to recommend this shop to anyone and everyone. Not after this. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE. When I went to the store Saturday, the gentleman with beard and hat tried to tell me he never said anything like that in regards to giving me the original jump ring. He was so rude to me while I was hysterical. He said "what do you want from me? I didn't do it." So I dropped off a very old family heirloom to be repaired and my pendant was butchered. If they practice this kind of customer service to someone they all know is a regular and have spent so much money in there, who knows how everyone else is treated. GOLD MINE, MAKE THIS RIGHT.
