Not a planned trip! We were in Savannah for a funeral and found ourselves in a pickle of all rooms downtown being sold out. Went to book a room, thinking it was Tybee and it ended up being here. Room prices were over $350/night to stay in Savannah so this seemed like a steal at $235/night. Easy 50 minute drive to Hilton Head and a beach! They are doing renovations here so the pool and tiki bar are not available. For the one night stay, we were very pleased with the beach access, restaurant onsite and the room. The rooms do actually seem more like a beach house feel than a hotel. Love the decor and setup! They also have a free flavored water machine that can add in vitamins and electrolytes. Since I'm runner, I was pleased with the paved path in front of the resort. I was able to get my long run in with minimal interruption of traffic. Concierge and wait staff were very friendly. I'm dumbfounded by reviews here, honestly. Maybe they were going through additional renovations before? Plenty of signs posted here mentioning that and mentioning housekeeping being short staffed. I think people just suck in general and write negative reviews bc they had to wait 30 extra seconds for their room keys or found a fragment of sand on their door knob. Chill out folks! Relaxing stay, would recommend!

Tv stand left corner

Let me begin by mentioning the musty room smell. Granted, the room did not have a window that opened, which I think should be required by law, or at least mentioned in the list of features on the website. Anyway, the smell was probably due to the carpet not being shampooed regularly. Carpet! - also a bad idea near the beach... Something else that the hospitality industry is guilty of is dirty air filters in the heat/air units. The one in the room was not visible, but there was dust on top of the surrounding frame. The exhaust fan in the bathroom was visible, and was very furry with dust. These being replaced often would help with air quality. My partial ocean view was ruined by the film of dirt on the window. It was so dirty, that my camera could barely focus on the landscape. The camera detected the dirt as the subject and not the sunrise I wanted to capture... I know being near the ocean, windows will need to be cleaned more frequently, but these look like they have not seen a squeegee or a rag in quite some time. The mattress was the softest that I have ever slept in... It was actually too soft. I mean sink down in the bed soft. There was a semi- soft ridge in the center. The decor was appropriate to the beach environment, so points there. However the furniture in our room was in rough shape. For example, the tv stand top was warped. It must have swelled up due to some liquid, but the top was obviously particle board. Scratches on the metal chair legs. The shower head was mounted about chest high - I'm exaggerating, slightly. Decent pressure though. The online pictures are really deceptive. They show a bright, updated facility. Not so in real life. There were a few extra fees added during checkout...not cool or professional. I acknowledge that most of the hotels along the beach are not brand new, however the older a place is the more attention to upkeep is required. I wasn't expecting perfection, but I was expecting better.

Overall, this is a basic hotel. The biggest amenities are the on site bar and restaurant and the pool with poolside games (ping pong, cornhole). There were 2 daily activities during my visit (yoga in the morning and a poolside kid movie at night). There isn't a fitness center but they do offer passes for a local gym to access during your visit. The rooms are not accessible from the lobby, you have to navigate to your building from the outside. Other than the lobby, there isn't much to look at. The hallways are dim and the carpet and walls look like they haven't been touched in quite some time. Room keys are plastic bracelets which was super cool to not have to dig for a key everytime! There is a checkpoint at the entrance to the parking lot where staff checks for a parking pass. Parking was pretty crowded but we luckily were able to snag a spot close to the side entrance by our room most days/nights. The room itself was okay, the bed was comfy, the shower was hot and the pressure was great. The room comes with a fridge and there is a microwave in the lobby. We had a huge issue in our room with the air conditioner/piping causing a bit of a flood on half of the floor. It had gotten pretty bad to the point that I had to call the front desk. They were extremely responsive and maintenance was in our room within 10 minutes. He apologized several times, fixed the issue and provided a fan to try to dry the carpet. Unfortunately, it was pretty useless. We put sheets and blankets down for the rest of our visit just to be able to navigate throughout the room comfortably. We received 2 free drinks and breakfast for the trouble. I thought this was pretty fair, I was just more frustrated the issue happened to begin with. The beach and pool are lovely. I do wish the pool was a full circle, the layout seems a bit off. There are restrooms accessible right in the middle, so that's nice - don't have to go too far. Beach chairs aren't given for free, you have to rent from the tiki bar. Sunrise is so gorgeous and the waves are very relaxing at night. I received a reduced/marketing promotion rate for this stay so it was well worth it for me. I do think I would stay here again, though. The location was great - everywhere we went was 10 minutes away or less and the Coligny Plaza with restaurants, shops and live music is walking accessible.

So much potential but truly poorly maintained. The bathroom we'd disgusting, dirty, stains on the wall, rusted towel rack, just really not where I want to get ready or enjoy a shower. I went to Hilton Head for a few days got and around New Years Eve and booked this hotel through Expedia because the images looked super cute. The staff was really friendly and the pool/beach area was really cute. But the rooms need some love and in the 3 days I was there I noticed several non-guests (unhoused, under the influence who came in probably though the beach access) wandering about. The beach itself is gorgeous and I really enjoyed waking up early and taking long walks before people crowded it with friends and family.

Inside our room so far so good... let's hope so!

Most only remember to leave hotel reviews if something goes wrong. So this is a delayed review, but our stay in December is A-Okay! We went on the off-season to Hilton Head, SC, so it's not super busy. It's conveniently next to the beach, great for some early walks along the beach and near a plaza for food and souvenir shopping. It's also about a 20-minute drive to golf courses and Tanger Outlets. There's not much of a nightlife scene, which is fine for us as a couples getaway. Most shops in the plaza close except this one rave bar in the plaza. We did not use the amenities, and the outside pool area was closed when we were there (December). The room is clean a bit of rusting on the bars, but not terrible. We were on the upper floors, so we had no issues like the previous reviewer mentioned about dust. The only problem we had was that the fridge in our room made some whirring noises, which can be annoying if you're a light sleeper. We had to turn off our fridge at night. There is no microwave or water fountain on each floor. You'll have to go to the main to use the microwave or restaurant for water. I would give this stay a solid 3.5 rating, more pros than cons. Based on rates during December, this was relatively a better value place to stay than others we compared.

Booked through Expedia and thought I would have had a better experience. Pros: - Great location, beach front and all. Close to the Coligny Beach, just footsteps away (although, it is a public beach). Can walk to Coligny Plaza very easily. - The Tiki Hut is a lot of fun! It would be nice if they gave a slight discount to those that are staying with the Beach House Resort. - Free parking is definitely a nice perk. Cons: - Similar to other reviewers | Renovations ongoing during our mid-March 3-night stay. Unfortunate and the front desk only seemed to "check to see what's going on" but never really did anything to alleviate the situation. What sounded like hammering. - Some parts of the room were dirty. Seemingly coffee grounds on the K-cups in the room. Random hairs on the comforter upon first walking in. Weird marks on some of the towels. - The reviews for The Porch did not seem promising (on Yelp; Google), so it realistically did not seem like a viable food option on the site of the resort. - Was disappointed to find out there was no hot tub / jacuzzi on the premises. - Pool did not feel heated. A lot of ant hills in the pool area. - Not sure if it was a timing thing, but I would have liked to have beach chairs since this is a "resort" and we were charged "resort fees"... NOTE + WARNING: Biggest disappointment is that I was charged a "marketing fee" and "social impact fee" that I was NOT notified of when I first checked in or when I checked out. I was only informed of daily "resort fees", yet was hit with these additional small fees. Disappointed by the lack of transparency on this. Left a bad taste in my mouth upon my final check out.

Resort like prices in a super 8 type room. Almost 300.00 a night off season.

A clean, sparse room, that serves a hot breakfast is the most positive thing i can say about this resort. I use the word resort loosely because it is anything but resort. I wish I had read some of these reviews before I booked it Paying 269.00 per night, plus a resort fee, plus 21.00 per night for breakfast, plus a tip charge, plus a $100.00 per night security deposit that only 97.00 per night is returned to you, cause there is a 3. 00 fee for charging you the security deposit. This is on off season. What did we get? It is a good location and a clean basic room. The pool was closed for repairs The guests were more like Carnival cruise folks. Very loud and drunk, lots of smoky hallways, etc. Just read other reviews, they nailed it. On the positive side, we enjoyed our trip inspite of all this. We will stay elsewhere next time.

I must admit I almost canceled a week before my trip. Their are so many mix reviews on this place and it's about $300.00 a night. I decide to not change anything. This place has the beach right behind it, live music other forms of entertainment and two restaurants. You really don't need to leave the hotel. I did learn that they had newer rooms and older rooms. Since I learned that from the reviews I asked for a newer updated room if they had it available. I checked in on Friday afternoon. I believe check in time is around 4pm. I showed up around 3p. At that time I checked with Kevin. I believe he is one of the managers their. He was very accommodating. He help to make my beginning first impression great. The room was cool, nice and clean. Some people complained about the music. It didn't bother me. When I needed to I was able to fall asleep. I'm rating it a 4 mainly because of the price if it was a little cheaper it would have overall been a 5. I had a great experience their and because of the location I definitely would recommend to others.

Had the BEST time in Hilton Head at this hotel! It was so convenient to have a restaurant and tiki hut for food and drinks all at your doorstep. The hotel was clean and comfortable, with nautical decor and modern finishing touches. We were able to walk across the street for some afternoon shopping and for a coffee in the morning. We enjoyed playing cards on the pool deck patio and walking outside for a beautiful sunrise view in the morning. Our stay here was quiet and relaxing, and I will definitely return for another weekend get away!

This August, when the weather tends to be quite warm, we decided to stay at the Sonesta Resort. Located in Hilton Head, South Carolina, the Sonesta Resort offers a range of appealing amenities, including isolated beach access, a zero-entry lagoon pool, multiple restaurants and bars, and a full-service spa. The resort also features a fitness center, organized daily activities like turtle feeding, and on-site bike rentals. The recently renovated guest rooms offer stunning ocean views. We chose the Sonesta Resort primarily because of these features. Since we were not keen on staying directly on the beach during the hot August days, the resort's other amenities provided the perfect alternative for comfort and entertainment. Our experience was positive; the rooms were comfortable, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Overall, we all enjoyed our stay at this hotel and appreciated the variety it added to our visit to Hilton Head Island.

We were originally planning to spend a three day weekend here. We spoke with someone at the hotel…read moreto arrange for our stay, when we spoke with this person he gave us two options since we had dogs. One was the basic suite on the first floor without any view, the other had a partial view of the ocean. We went with the partial view of the ocean though it was an additional 125 dollars a night. We are on VACAY, no biggie. So when we arrive, we get into our room after the Bellhop gets done slamming our things to the ground, tipped him, though probably shouldn't have. When we look outside our room, we see a big parking lot and not even a slightly partial view of any water other than the puddle in the parking lot from a previous rain. My wife goes down right away and says this isn't an upgrade, they first tell her, we were lucky to get a room, because they were overbooked (sounds like a you problem not an us problem doesn't it?). Then they proceed to tell her that it was an upgraded suite (I guess they don't realize we know how to use the internet, it was the most basic room and a Handicap room on top of it, we will get back to that debacle later). A few hours later, I go down to talk to the desk because I have just taken the dogs out for a walk and it was not very much fun walking in the parking lot, though they did have a few small grass islands which proved beneficial. I was also told that it was an upgraded room and that we should talk to a manager on checking out. I bring up the fact that after the stay if we complain, it does no good since we have implicitly agreed to the Terms and Conditions since we didn't leave and demand a refund immediately, he just smiles. After the first lovely night sleeping on a broken down mattress that is on a 3/4" piece of ply-wood that has a fabric wrap to allow for ease of use by people who are in wheelchairs. It is less comfortable than sleeping on the bathroom floor. I know this because our dogs get off the bed after about an hour and go sleep on the floor, something they never would do at our house with our plush Kings Down Mattress and Box Spring, we notify the desk we are checking out early. No problem. Then at checkout, the manager is amazingly not available though the check out host asks why we are leaving early, he then proceeds to tell us that we were not charged for an upgraded room (Again Bobo, we know how to use the internet, we paid an additional 125 dollars a night for an upgraded room). The only saving grace is that the beach which was about a half a mile walk for us, was a nice diversion for the dogs. Do not waste your money on this debacle of a "resort". No excuse for the lies we were told by the hostesses and hosts at the front desk, that is inexcusable to outright lie multiple times to your guests. Cheers, hope your visit to Hilton Head Island is better than ours.

To be fair, we traveled during the slower time of year, which is definitely a plus. So if you can visit in October when kids are back in school and families aren't traveling, I'd recommend it. We stayed on the 3rd floor, I believe room 318. It was pretty far from the elevator but conveniently located across from the stairs, which worked out well. I noticed they offered free breakfast, though it was more of a continental style with some upgrades. They had great options; my favorite was the fresh yogurt. The eggs were super tough to peel, but they had mayo, mustard, salt, and pepper, so I made an egg salad sandwich. They also had Nutella, which was a nice little treat. Honestly, it was so quiet during our stay, but I will say the rooms aren't very soundproof--less than a Marriott or Westin, so you can hear quite a bit. That's why I'd probably avoid this place if it's really busy. The gym was sufficient for a solid workout, and they even provided bottled water, which was a nice touch. The staff was very friendly and made the stay enjoyable

DoubleTree by Hilton Hilton Head Island

DoubleTree by Hilton - Hilton Head Island, South Carolina…read more I arrived around 7:00 in the evening on a Tuesday in March. Parking is a little tight immediately around the building. There are a few spaces in front of the hotel facing the street, some along the side, and an additional lot nearby. I happened to look up and got lucky with a front-row parking spot. As soon as I walked toward the entrance the front desk agent was already greeting me before I even reached the desk, which was a refreshing change. Many places wait until you approach the counter, but she was immediately welcoming and hospitable. Check-in was smooth and friendly. I received my plastic key, two DoubleTree cookies, and two bottles of water. She also handed me a menu for the on-site restaurant and took a moment to explain it, then gave me a small map showing how to get to the beach and where to park. Since the beach is the primary reason most people come to Hilton Head, that was genuinely helpful. On the hospitality scale she gets a solid 100. My room was on the third floor. It's a nice, comfortable room with hard flooring throughout rather than carpet. The room has two queen beds. The bathroom may be an ADA style layout -- I'm not certain -- but it features a walk-in shower, which I personally prefer over a tub. The bathroom isn't huge, but it's not cramped either and there is plenty of room to move around. There is a closet near the bed area with a rack, hangers, and a luggage stand. Just inside the front door is another small area with an ironing board, iron, a safe, and another hanger rack, although there were no hangers on that rack during my stay. In the hallway area between the entry door and the sleeping area there is another enclosed space that looks like it may once have been a closet or kitchenette. Now it simply works as an extra storage nook where you could stash luggage or personal items. The room includes a small bench, a TV mounted above a cabinet that holds two drawers, a microwave, and a refrigerator. There is also a Keurig coffee maker. Coffee choices included Maker's Mark French Roast and Celestial English Breakfast black tea, along with Coffee Mate creamer packets. If you prefer real cream, you may want to bring your own or check the coffee bar downstairs. There is a desk area with a comfortable chair. The ice bucket sits on a nice chrome tray along with two glasses -- one of which unfortunately had visible residue in the bottom and appeared dirty. The tray itself and chrome bucket are a nice switch up from the typical plastic setups found in many hotels. One of the nice surprises in this room is the balcony. The door actually opens and allows you to step outside. The balcony is narrow -- maybe two feet deep -- but it runs the length of the room. My view overlooked the front drive where cars pass by, but I could also see my car from the balcony, which was convenient. The seating area includes a large blue plush chair in the corner. Lighting in the room is a mix of bright and softer lighting. There is a light near the entry, a desk lamp with a power outlet and older USB port, and a bedside table with a clock and phone. The bedside area includes four USB ports and four AC outlets. There are also additional plugs and newer USB ports built into the light fixture mounted between the beds that I didn't notice at first. That same fixture has a bright white reading light that is extremely bright -- great if you need strong light -- while the rest of the room lighting is softer and more relaxed. Overall the room was clean and comfortable. Aside from the dirty glass and the lotion bottle in the bathroom hanging slightly off the wall where the screws had pulled loose, the room was exactly what you need for a comfortable stay. The balcony was a great bonus even without a dramatic view. Every staff member I encountered during my stay was pleasant and hospitable. The hotel overall appears clean, well maintained, and well cared for. The hotel also has an on-site restaurant called Bold Kitchen & Bar, and it's very good. The ribeye steak became my personal favorite during the stay. Breakfast is available as a buffet but it is not included with the room and costs extra. That said, the quality of the food was excellent. The bacon and sausage were very good, and there were plenty of choices across the buffet with a good variety of items. Overall, this DoubleTree provides exactly what you would expect from the brand: a clean, comfortable room, friendly staff, and a convenient location for enjoying Hilton Head's beaches. The hospitality from the front desk and the solid on-site dining were definite highlights of the stay.

Disney's Hilton Head Island Resort was the perfect stop. This year I planned for a two night stay at the property. Our room looks great, it seems like they first worked on all of the interior rooms. We just stayed at the Boardwalk Hotel, this two bedroom had the same contemporary feel. The Murphy Bed is similar to The Boardwalk, it's a great design. The question is, is it really a "Disney" hotel? I own points in Disney Vero Beach, Vero Beach is a true Disney hotel.
