They have big furniture items like wardrobes, beds and dressing tables - all at ridiculously low prices. I saw a fabulous 1950s dressing table in there a couple of months back and they wanted £25.00 for it. I love looking at the glassware - I've picked up some very cool Babycham glasses from there (£3 each) as well as some pretty pressed glass serving bowls and vases. They must get a lot of stock from house clearances - there are complete dinner services and tea sets to be snapped up. There is a glass cabinet by the till containing jewellery and more collectable items, though even these items are still really cheap. I love going in around Christmas time, as it makes a great place to pick up "vintage" style stocking fillers without breaking the bank.

I think I still control myself better here than in Brazil because the currency differences, but there is always that day when your impulsive feelings speak for yourself and "something" takes to the nearest shopping to find the bargain of your life. Well, I did have an impulsive feeling when I visited St. Mary Hospice and I'm glad I did because I found exactly what I was looking for that day ( spending some money, obviously). I have found a green denim jacket of my life for £4.95 and I felt almost like Susanna Arquette in "Desperately Seeking Susan" when she finds Susan's jacket! That was the feeling! Anyway, this shop has a good section of clothes to be checked but they also have a large variety of other items like toys, books, cds, dvds. This time I confess I gave it a miss but I do recommend to visit this St. Mary's, as soon as possible! Trust your feelings! The service is friendly and please, leave some money there because the work done in this and other Hospice shops are just brilliant!

This makes for occasional rich pickings along the main high street, which has 7 or 8 charity outlets of various denominations. Depending on which end of the High Street you start at, Oxfam will either be the first or last you visit as it is situated at the south end, just opposite the Waitrose supermarket (Harborne has a Waitrose as it's main supermarket - that ought to tell you everything you need to know about the demographics at work here) The outlet is a fairly standard Oxfam layout and it a mixture of clothes, books and bric-a-brac that the public have donated and a selection of the stock which appears in all Oxfam shops; fair trade coffee, Guatemalan Worry People - you know the type of thing. As there is an Oxfam bookshop at the other end of the High Street, the records and books available here tend to be those that didn't make the cut, but that's not to say you won't find a gem if you're lucky. The same, of course, goes for the clothes and other stock. For the clothes there is a changing cubicle, so you don't have to perform guesswork regarding sizes.

Inside you'll find a variety of nice things - including high-end labels (in sadly, often teensy sizes), a decent vinyl selection and a good range of nonfiction and fiction books. Their cards are good and I've bought some unusual pieces of jewellery from here over the years - although compared to other charity shops in the village they are a bit pricier than you'd expect. Ethical detergents, washing powders etc and fair trade chocolate and notebooks are also available and whilst staff seem to change on a regular basis - I guess they get a lot of requests from volunteers - the people who work here always seem very jolly.

This is something you don't often get in Charity shops. They have lots of great Bargains to browse. There is a good Kids section with lots of clothing toys and books. Also Household items kitchen ware, Bathroom ware and lots of items to brighten up your home. I also noticed there is a great under £5 section with so many great Bargains and gifts for all the family. It goes without saying there is also a great clothing section with lots of choice for Men and Women. I went especially to get some jeans for my son and came out successful. If you are a fan of Charity shops or Bargain hunting I would definitely recommend a visit. The staff are very welcoming Helpful and cheery too.

This is a well presented and neat little shop that can turn up to occasional treasure. There's rarely much to get overly excited over, though I'm always impressed by the quality and condition of some of the wedding dresses. I saw two there on my last visit that were really pretty and priced up at £90.00. Budget conscious brideswould be well advised to pay this place a visit!

There is a decent selection of clothes, childrens toys, books, records, CDs and bric-a-brac. eBay has reduced the likelihood of finding bargain vinyl in charity shops these days, but I have picked up one or two things in this store that have made the trip worthwhile. As ever with a charity shop, you either get lucky or you don't, and repeat visits naturally increase your chances of success.
